Boycott Star Wars
PABAAH: Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood ^

Posted on 05/16/2005 4:09:24 AM PDT by Jon Alvarez

"It is just one of those re-occuring things. I hope this doesn't come true in our country. Maybe the film will awaken people to the situation of how dangerous it is . . . The parallels between what we did in Vietnam and what we are doing now in Iraq are unbelievable." --George "Michael Moore" Lucas

sorry folks...we know this one hurts, but this idiot does not deserve our money. We are at war and to fan the flames of anti-Americanism around the globe is irresponsible and dangerous. George Lucas will never see a dime of my money again.

George Lucas is a butthead. But the first two original StarWars movies are still cool to me.(Even Buttheads get lucky sometimes)

I think they head downhill from the second movie. I got my son into StarWars and he loves it! He is a Chewy fan!

I am not much of a movie goer to begin with and I don't care for most of hollywood's product.

But I say keep the name.

Jawas are so cool. Beside that they are not 100% George's creation. There are tons of people who have to be spot on to make a great movie. Some other guy made those little Jawas....Lucas just came up with the idea.

Conservatives need to get a thicker skin.

PJ O'Rourke wrote mockingly about the "Perpetually Indignant" once; he was referring to the Left.

In many ways the Right is frantically trying to imitate the Left now; there are a heck of a lot of the "Perpetually Indignant" on FR, constantly boycotting stuff, frantically looking for or even inventing ways they can be offended by stuff so they can enjoy complaining about it. Heck, we're even getting our own ranting morons in imitation of Moore and Garafolo.

I got back into StarWars again after seeing it thru the eyes of my son. We have the first three on DVD and watch them all the time. IT has brought back a ton of good memories for me. I am getting my little guy a light saber for his birthday. Now they have a video game that accompanies the light saber! (OF course they do!) I can't wait to play it with him!

We are even having a RED5JEDI Birthday cake and lightsaber contests- and I am going to be right there playing it all with him. ( And that is what kid's birthday parties are for in the first place; a time when adults can act like kids too! hehe!)

I'll go to the discount $5.00 matinee, bring my own food and drink water. That way I can cut their profits by 50%

You are really slamming us as being like the Left? What I really hate about the Left is their constant slandering of others. If their outrage was based on truth, I would expect that outrage of them. If they lacked outraged, I would suspect they were not sincere.

If they criticize people who are trying to save our 'fragile planet' for 'overracting to the alleged destruction of the earth', then obviously, they'd be phony as three dollar bills. Are you insisting that we should be as phony as the fake centrists on the left?

Do you think that just maybe “Dreams and Nightmares “ predisposed the Cannes audience (including Lucas) to view Star Wars as an allegory on Bush?

When it comes out on DVD I will not buy it until a minimum of three weeks after the release.

Well, that's just foolish. The prices on new releases are always better on the week of release than they are afterwards. Unless you want even more of your money to go out to the evil folks in Hollywood, then you better buy it the instant it comes out! It is your duty as a conservative to do so!

and that's your opinion...funny to hear people say conservatives over react or need a thicker skin when we fight back...better yet, we're censors when we use that favorite tactic of the left...the boycott.

free speech is a 2-way street, not just reserved for liberals.

thank you...a refreshing comment, for sure, on this thread. Amazing how many care little about the oncoming barbarian hordes, as long as they get to see thir beloved gladiatorial games.

"My life is not all-consumed by politics"

actually, mine has...since 9/11, when 3000 of my fellow Americans were massacred.

Yeah, I'm sorry...this war on terrorist murderers just does that to me. I bet you'd prefer we just apologize and free Saddam.

Perhaps you could offer an alternative plan to defanging the same threat Clinton and Kerry supposed Saddam to be? How about providing him with a way to build nuclear reactors for peaceful fuel usage? LOL

BTW, after I'm done boycotting this film, I will be reporting to bootcamp in August at the ripe old age of 39. How's that for getting a grip? I'm ready to go to Iraq, Afghanistan, N. Korea, or Iran...if my country needs me.

heck, I can name one reason why George Lucas himself could be considered a threat to civilization...Jar Jar Binks.

actually, it's more like 15-20%, but alot of them that don't make our boycott list are just garbage...since my new pool, I've spent alot more time outdoors, and with the family...much more conducive to better relationships and enjoyment of life. ;)

how about AngryJarJar? LOL.

My problems with Lucas began with the Ewoks...then evolved with Jar Jar, and then the ever ridiculous death of Darth Maul at the hands of a near-death apprentice Jedi...give me a break.

But now he's crossed the line...no more money for him.

You know what, sometimes a movie is just a movie. Entertainment doesn't vote.

Why not boycott air? I'm sure some liberal breathed it in at some point.
