New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Heh heh eh...
Hi!
Steve took Matthew out to scope out a place to go hunting. Joshua and I have been to Walmart.
Shameless :)
You have no idea. ;)
We're back from shoppin'. A chore I hate. Big'ol didn't find the book. He only berated the clerks a little bit. Not me. I didn't find the 'perfect outfit' for my vey important briefing next week. There were lots of potential purchases, but nothing in my size. So *I* flipped out. "What kind of poor management runs this place? There are exactly three pairs of slacks in this sea of petites in my size. Two are hideous and have nothing that matches. The third was used as a hankerchief by someone's kid. I will not buy boogers. I will not buy anything from this store."
I hate that.
I'll join you in management ranting, OK?
My little sister is with me today, and wanted to watch a movie. Now...there are only a VERY few video places in town, and both of them tick me off on a regular basis, but today we went to the one I ranted about awhile back, 'cause they had near R rated movies playing during broad daylight while lots of people with small children were in the place. I complained, and they looked at me like I had two heads. I've avoided it for the most part.
BUT today we went back, and we rented "The King and I", which I hadn't seen in awhile and she said she wanted to watch. Got it home and it wouldn't play worth doodly in my VCR, although other movies will. Flipped around and the image kept disappearing and the tracking would NOT adjust enough to even be visible. So we took it back, and I told them the problem.
They tried it there and said they didn't think it wasn't bad enough to warrant a replacement rental. I didn't press the issue...just left.
Soo...they've saved themselves THREE DOLLARS by not letting me just get something else. And lost...pretty much any future rentals from me. That's worth it HOW? What happened to "the customer is always right"? At least when it's something that petty! I'm VEY hot under the collar right now, especially as this was my little sis' treat, and she insisted on paying for it, and got ripped off. I'm going to pay her back, but really...is that logical???
Tell me I'm not overreacting!
And yeah, I hear ya on the size problems. 'Round here, you can pick between nice looking petites (don't fit me), or slutty looking "misses" clothing. No nice dresses or slacks in regular sizes. Why? I have NO clue!
And why oh why do stores waste space on size 4 clothes? No one that size wears business suits. They're into low-rise jeans and belly shirts.
And she's now in there watching "Annie", which is working PERFECTLY, so it's NOT my VCR...
I decided to try on some slacks at Penney's yesterday...there were TONS of size 4s and tons of, say, 14s and above...but in my size they were all petites.
Seems like that's always the way. So I can identify...
You're not. You can use my one of my favorite lines, "You can't afford to reimburse me $n?? Well, if you can't afford that, you certainly can't afford the bad press I can generate for you. Can you afford for all the other people in this store to realize you don't stand behind your product? What's going to happen when they come to you for service and you call them liars?.... blah blah blah." It helps to stand on your tiptoes when yelling all this at the counter. The idea is to get as many people staring at the idjit manager as possible. Never rule out tears. Or hysterics.
Kids these days! Yeesh! When *I* was their age...
Heh...
Ugh, I hate clothes shopping. Of course in my case it's probably for a different reason: for me it's because I'm a guy and I have no fashion sense, so I just want to find something wearable and get out of there as fast as possible without spending too much, LOL!
Sounds like they owe you a free video rental to me.
"King and I" is a fun movie :)
I can wear petites, if I have to, but I have trouble finding nice dresses. They're either slutty, or old-lady, or too casual to wear to church. And I absolutely have to buy a minimum of one winter dress. I have one outfit, but it's really deep-winter so I can't wear it right away; and I have my Little Red Dress, but that's really too fancy for everyday Sundays. And that's it. So unless I want to start showing up to church in slacks (which I don't)...
And I need another winter hat, but that's not going to happen.
1964-1969 were great years for music!!
Today, however, a HUGH thunderboomer is going through with goo-gobs of rain!! We're watching the 'swimming pool' fill up in the low places outside. ;o) Thankfully the tarps are holding. We'll go out when the storm is over and drain the water out of the dips.
No lightning, but it's VEY soggy. Some of the rivers looked in danger of flooding earlier, but it's stopped downpouring, so I think we're OK.
I expected that they'd let me swap it for another movie...SORT of a free rental, since we hadn't even watched the messed up one.
That they didn't means they've lost me as a customer. Phooey on 'em.
Yep. Most of my current dresses are either ones I've had for years, or ones I bought in a major splurge or wayyyyy on sale at the ONE place in the area that sells nice stuff.
Luckily I now work in a place where I can wear casual clothes (jeans, even), so dresses don't get a lot of wear and last me a long time. It was harder at the last place. Wasn't a SUPER dressy kinda place, but I never wore pants, for the most part.
