The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Posted on 07/13/2004 9:49:23 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Tonight at Ash's birthday party (Ash is elf-boy's godsister), I talked to Pvt Henry Long, Army-National Guard. He loves the Hobbit Hole knife. He goes back to Iraq after next week.

Hi again...

Well just managed to tick my hubby off AGAIN...he's wanting to write a book based on people he knows and was telling me his philosophy that if you were able to trash someone to their face and they don't catch on, then its okay. I personally have no objections to what he wants to write, but my immediate reaction to his philosophy was "I think I just realized something about you I didnt like."

Which means, I am not on real good terms with him right now. And apologies don't seem to have assuaged him.

Me and my big mouth.

Sorry to hear that! Well, you apologized, so he'll probably be assuaged after he has a little time to fume. Prayers going up on it.

thanks ... isnt that a rather basic human urge though : if you can insult someone and they dont catch on, then we think ourselves pretty clever? I guess I am of the mindset that if I want a person to know what I think of them, I will tell them, if not then I will keep my damn mouth shut because I dont want to hurt or have to explain myself? I tried to tell him thats what I was really reacting to, but he's thinking I am telling him not to write the book. And he got me good by pointing out that I had no problem with someone else doing the same thing on someone Im not terribly fond of.

Thing is, I don't particularly care to conceal my feelings about this person. If she finds out I would be willing to trash her, I'd at least be happy with the knowledge that the truth is out there.

I guess I hate subterfuge.

Oooh, that doesn't sound too good. We've been lethargic here too...but that's just the weather here sapping everyone. It's still pretty warm here at 10 p.m.

Maybe you need to do some carb loading for energy? ;-}

I didn't hear the argument and I'm not sure I'm following everything, but going just by what you describe it sounds to me like you're right in the policy you advocate about either telling someone directly or not saying anything, but perhaps the way you said it made your husband a bit defensive and he's taking what you said differently than you meant it, which is what it sounds like he's reacting to. Again I didn't hear the conversation so this could be way off, but that's what I'm picking up from what you describe.

Morning! I've got a busy day. To church, then we get a family picture taken, then lunch at the yummy Mexican place while the picture develops, then home and either packing, or going to my brother's softball picnic. I'd better get moving!
