Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You need to come to church just once with me and Rose. Just once.

You're gonna blow her mind, you know this, don't you?

LOL! Frozen Chosen, I love it!

I don't do snakes

When we were working yesterday getting the site ready for the remodel we discovered a little milk snake slithering among the rocks we'd uncovered. We named it "Louise" after the twins' pet snake in Madeleine L'Engle's book "A Wind in the Door"

Didn't see her out there today; don't know if she's gone away, or just burrowed way down to avoid us. ;o)

Doesn't your church do interfaith stuff?

Not... particularly. But also as I said, we don't have a lot of variety. Catholic, several different orthodox, and 42 white Protestant churches. I'm not sure I've even heard of Church of God in Christ before.

Lol, the preacher last night was very energetic and I think he tried to get an "amen" near the end. It, um, didn't work. I guess if I had to give adjectives to the style of worship I'm used to, it would be 'reverent', 'liturgical', and 'quiet'.

Suzi's right, you probably would blow my mind, but I'm game to try it. Do people wear hats at your church?

Morning. Gotta get ready to face three sets of construction traffic. The first set on our road. Grr.

Dunno when I'll be home, my uncle's in town and I may end up going to see him.

Good morning!

Ugh...I'm sleepy. Hard to sleep when it's hot, though I know seventies don't really rate as hot for most of you...especially poor smaagee!

Going to be another muggy day here. At least the garden likes it.

You'll be fine!

But I can understand being nervous. I ain't good at meeting new people under pressure, and when they're your future in-laws, there's quite a bit of pressure, I'd say, even if unintentionally.

Yep on all that!

I just wish so much this week was over and all we had are the pleasant memories! There's way too much buildup. Too many hopes and expectations and pressures and all that.

I almost dread the wedding itself. I am not a "hey - everyone look at me!" kind of gal. I look most forward to the reception where we can be regular people again and not part of the spectacle!
