Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Now I'm not knockin the good, old-fashioned traditional solemn hymns, because I like them too. All I'm saying is that praise and worship should have some PRAISE and worship in it. A joyful noise kind of PRAISE!Wholehearted agreement! And the churches I've found here that think they have that praise part down - well - they just need a shot of adrenaline or something.
Funny thing - the church I have been attending lately is the same denomination as my church back home. This past Sunday morning I was kinda bummed cause I hadn't stayed in Waco after Myranda's birthday to go to church... but, I was halfway home when I took her to see her boyfriend - I'd have just been back-trackin' to go back to Waco. Okay, anyway, I went to this church here and they let the youth lead praise and worship. It started out really good! I was likin' it a lot!!! And then, the youth leader stood up and told everyone that they'd just gotten back from a youth trip to this church with the most incredible praise and worship that they felt they had to come back and share... and they said the name of the church they'd been too..... YEP!!! IT WAS MY CHURCH IN WACO!!!!
Now, is God good or what!!! That was just awesome! :-D

Not a problem. I will pick Scott's and Ramius' brains OK, that'll get you change for a nickel. What's your next plan?

You've never been to a Church of God in Christ?
Jen, hon, you really should attend some of these events. Doesn't your church do interfaith stuff? As a kid, I got to go sing at Catholic churches, and the snooty white Methodist churches (this was before the Methodists United). It was fascinating, seeing the ways people worshipped.
And the church I'd take you to would be interracial, and very Holiness. Full band --- drums, piano, organ, guitars, and maybe a brass section --- to bring the Holy Ghost into the house, and a preacher that will first preach a thought-provoking sermon, bring the Holy Ghost into your heart. When he sings during the call to join --- and every good preacher's gotta sing --- you'll toy with the notion.
I like a good CoGiC church, I do!

That good, huh? Might have to check that out one day. :-) Actually... it *was* good. Big fun. But I couldn't get my grandpa to go. He was the old-school Lutheran (Missouri Synod) and wouldn't dain to go someplace where they had them "'lectric guitars".

Hang in there pal... it only gets weird from here on out.

There's a black Baptist church in San Antonio that's built to sway, just a little, when enough people filled with the Holy Ghost start to dance in the aisles.
You get a couple of 300lb sisters in high heels stomping, something's gotta give!
