Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We took the older two boys to DC for the 4th of July in 1987. We also spent an entire day in the Air & Space Museum as well, but that's what the boys wanted to see. The best fun, though, was sitting on the Mall near the Capitol on the 4th, listening to Mstislav Rostropovich lead the National Symphony and watching the fireworks!

It should be a quality treatment of the subject.Ollie does such a great job on "War Stories" because he loves and respects those soldiers and isn't trying to play 'gotcha' like other journalists tend to do!

Melissa is SO CUTE!! I love that pink bunny friend she has!
Pets can be funny with their toys. Clare gave her friend Erin a little fuzzy kitten when Erin got a new Siamese kitty. The stuffed one was the same size as the real one, with very similar coloring! Yuki (the cat) started dragging the toy around with her everywhere, and now will bring it to her food bowl and set it next to her while she eats!

Well you saved me from a funkle before, but I'm all alone here now. Gotta get to bed though cause I prolly won't get two good nights sleep in a row this weekend. We're having our Girl Scout Town Encampment this weekend. They've organized it around a 'Survivor' theme, and it sounds like it's gonna be fun! At least I don't have to sleep on the hard platform. I bought a nice cot, so at least I'll be somewhat comfortable!

It's a fly mask... made of a mesh netting they can see through but keeps flies out of their eyes.
Here's both of them with their masks on.

I can't believe you didn't come over and say hello to me and the Mrs. We wuz probably there. Used to park at my office, just a couple of blocks away and picnic on the lawn.

Actually, I forgot, but Jill and Myranda were tickled because they found *great* Mexican food in the town where they lived in Germany. Seems this Mexican couple from San Antonio decided they liked Germany better than San Antone and moved there to open a restaurant.Hm...I'm wondering if they WERE near where I was, then. 'Cause we used to go to a place that fit that description alll the time. They had both Mexican food and stuff like chicken fried steak - in HUGH portions. And the whole place was decorated with Texas stuff...license plates and signs and such.

Awwww....what a cutie pie! Glad they've been allowed to keep her - seems like there was a case awhile back where they wouldn't let them keep dogs.

Friday indeed! - Woke up to hard rain showers, which is perfect for the pasture I mowed yesterday.
Tonight my friend Kay is taking me out to dinner and gambling... sortof a bachelorette party!

I bet it depends on the temperament of the local guy in charge. There was a case I read where there was a hard fight to bring a dog home that a group had bonded with. But I think folk back here raised money (and probably pressure) to do it.
