Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'd better get cracking on the whole "big girl bed" thing now then. It's my fault that she's so spoiled because I really coddled her too much.

Now I just have to wait for g'nad to show up and post that "if you're child does not look like this when you come home..." pic!

I don't care to have those images and thoughts lingering in my brain.

Yeah, images from The Ring you definitely DO NOT want lingering!!

I think our little ol' cookie maker has retired. :)

We're getting ready to move Luke from his youth bed to a twin size.

Alyson is 22 months old and still in her crib, thank goodness. I had a toddler bed set up for her one night as a trial run, and all she wanted to do was climb up on the headboard and jump off!

Considering I have tile floors, I quickly determined that maybe she needed tostay in the crib a bit longer.

I think our little ol' cookie maker has retired. :)

I don't think that I can take it,
'Cause it took so long to bake it.
And I'll never have that recipe again...

I keep those monsters away by having the cats regularly patrol under there. Have not had any problem with monsters since I started that so it must be a good plan.

Haven't heard of anything out right now that's a must see in a theatre...that is if you aren't estrogen-loaded for Brad Pitt. Bunch of stuff coming out soon, but most of it is the summer-faire, a little lighter and racier because of that.

I was going to see Troy but after hearing they took the gods out I'm less enthusiastic. I'm mostly waiting on Spider-Man 2 at this point.

Last night I finished--um, I was going to mistype "Disc 4" again, but I meant "Season 2 Part A" of course :) And then I tried to go to sleep early but couldn't fall asleep, so I ended up staying up practicing techniques again--I tell ya, that's an inspiring show! Kenshin's a good motivator because being a cartoon he's better than any real-life martial artist, so he's always a reminder that there's room for improvement--kinda like watching Bruce Lee but to the nth power :)

Gonna work out a bit here--back a little later!

Lol, yeah I aways find a nice fighting anime show is a good motivation for me to go to Karate. I am so glad I started back up again last month but those first few times are pretty painful. Sensei can be a slave driver.

LOL! Yeah, I can relate to that :) I remember distinctly how I felt after my first class when I wasn't used to using those muscle groups--I don't think I've ever been so sore in my life, and the pain lasted like a week :) It's never been quite as painful after that, but taking a break and then getting back into it is always "fun" for the first two or three workouts, LOL! :) What style of Karate are you studying and what are you working on?

I want a moot. *snif*

Well, the timing of 'Animoot' wasn't working out for Jen, but if you, Bilbo, Mug, and Stephen would like to come down around the 4th of July, we could still have a day or two of gathering. Of course, SSQ is likely to put y'all to work on the house during part of that time! LOL!
Let me know if it will work out for y'all!

I think it's not too soon to start thinking about "Inauguration Moot."

Now that would be fun!

Didn't Lil Freeper say she could put us all up at her place in NASCAR county? ;o)

Actually Lil' volunteered MY place. But I think we'd want to be closer to DC than either of our places.

Shotakan (spl?). I am orange still because I have a tendency to go for a month or two and then slack off for long periods. This time I am going to stick to it. I really want to get a brown or black belt before I am 30. No matter what else you do to stay in shape it seems like getting back into it still finds those muscles you forgot you had :P This latest slack-off period was about a year :P It comes back pretty fast so I should be ready to advance next time we have testing.

Glad you're getting back into it :) Before I started in Kung Fu, I earned my Black Belt in a style of Tae Kwon Do influenced by Shudokan, which has many parallels with Shotokan though it's a little different in certain specifics. A book on Shotokan I'd highly recommend is Masatoshi Nakayama, Dynamic Karate. Good luck on your next test! What do you have to learn for that?
