Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

You're welcome! I love Ward E... I've even contributed a couple of transcriptions.
Time for me to sign off and head for bed... have a good night!

The regular phone lines are running through the same cross-country fiber as everything else. There's only one phone network. All voice and all data runs through the same pipes.
Yes, there are many bypass lines that run around all over the place, and they do bypass the major chokepoints. But... and it's a big but... those circuits can only handle a fraction of the traffic of the main pipes. If the main line is lost, some traffic will be routed around it, but at only a fraction of the bandwidth. Once congested, those lines may as well be down.
It happens all the time, really. Whenever even one of the last-mile providers like Qwest has a fiber cut someplace... it causes massive congestion on the net writ large.

Interesting. Sounds like you do have a novel script there! :) What could be done to safeguard against that type of thing, then?

Maybe I can get a cameo at least.

I'd say medium...kind of OK for a creeper, nothing special though. Too many holes in the plot and it drug on a bit. Kind of a nice twist at the end. Give it 2 and half stars.

What could be done to safeguard against that type of thing, then? Interesting question. I'm not sure. Lemme think on it and I'll get back to you. And maybe Tom Ridge too. :-)
I gotta bail out now. It's been fun... see y'all later.

Thanks for the review! It sounds like the kind of movie I'll grab if I see it at the library where I can rent it for free, but probably wouldn't go to the theater for. BTW what's out now that's any good?

Good morning post.
It's cloudy here. We're leaving late to hopefully avoid traffic. So I'll be home late, too, no doubt.
Izzit Friday yet?

Yikes...glad I went to bed last night before The Ring came up. I'm not a horror movie kinda gal, but I watched that one with my brothers. Shouldn't have. It REALLY creeped me out, badly.

Someday somebody is gonna write the perfect worm. It will exploit an unknown and unpatched vulnerability in Windows, and/or Unix and/or Cisco routers. It will spread throughout the whole internet to almost every machine in a matter of only a few minutes. It will sit there and do absolutely nothing for a while, so that nobody catches on that anything is wrong. Then it will strike everywhere at the same moment. And it will take the Internet down in its entirety. For days.OK, now THAT thought is even scarier than The Ring. All the more so since you're probably right.
So far we seem to have missed the Botox worm, or whatever the name of the thing was. Last one to hit us bad was Nachi / Welchia, a few days after Blaster, which didn't affect us really at all. I'm keepin' my fingers crossed...

Yes, very creepy movie. Another one I saw recently was 28 Days Later. Very creepy zombie-chase-doomsday movie.

Good morning!
It's NICE here. Rained all night and now it's stunningly green. Hopefully it means the marigolds I planted this weekend will start coming up soon...I used seeds, 'cause I'm cheap. ;-) I also have a bunch of other seeds, which I'm hoping to plant in a sort of rock garden, if I can uproot the grass in the place where I wanna put it, and find enough rocks. Going to be a big project, which I'll probably think about and never actually DO. *sigh* I'm good at that.

I've told people this before, but about three quarters of the way through watching
The Ring with my brothers, all of a sudden the door blew open and the TV shut off, though there were lights on in other parts of the house. We all three sat there on the couch saying "YOU go shut the door and see what's up with the TV." "No, YOU do it!"
*shudder* I seriously think it's a rather evil movie.

I agree. I don't care much for 'horror' movies because I get into movie plots too much. I don't care to have those images and thoughts lingering in my brain.
