Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good morning everyone!
The Ring was creepy, but not near as creepy as watching Mike Myers frolic around in an oversized Cat in the Hat outfit while telling terrible jokes! *shudder*
Unbelievably though, Rebecca LOVED it!

Heavens NO!!! Looking back, I can see how it may look that way...YIKES!
No, Becky watched The Cat in the Hat with Mike Myers. Which was pretty scary anyway......*laughing*
Becky cannot watch any horror movies, even the funny ones like Scary Movie. She's really terrified of even the cheesiest monsters, so I can only imagine the lifelong trauma she would experience after watching The Ring. That movie scared me!

lol. Same here sort of. My TV only only is hooked up to the computer and the dvd player so all my news is the internet or maybe Rush on the radio.
To: TalonDJ
Yep, my TV at home is used only for watching movies. I keep thinking that someday it'd be nice to get cable, since I can't really pick up any non-cable channels (I'm assuming there are too many hills around for it to work well?), but I never can quite justify the expense.
Not to mention I'm afraid I'd get hooked.

Yeah, I have more than enough ways to waste time without that one. I use to watch more tv but I got out of the habit when I was spending late nights in the lab for a year. There is nothing worth watching on at 2 am. I am sure I would still have cable if I plugged it into the wall since they have to hook that up when they turn on a cable modem. I watch more than enough anime to make up for the TV.

Hi Ruthy!
I'm logging off for a while...time for school.

We're still regretting letting Luke watch Monsters, Inc.

Really? Becky loves that movie and it actually helped her overcome her fears of monsters under the bed, etc. Then again, she is 6 years old, so that probably has more to do with than the movie does.

Luke loves it, but still worries about Monsters at bed time. It's probably more avoidance than actual fear.

To: Corin Stormhands
That would make more sense. Does he sleep with you and the Mrs?
I made the fatal mistake of allowing Becky to sleep in my bed after the divorce and now I can't get her out. Not that I mind too much!
My bigger problem is getting her to go to bed by 9 o'clock. It's been a battle almost every night. *sigh*

No, we never really started that with Luke. Did with Jr. because Mrs. was nursing. But Luke was never strong enough to do that.
Occassionally he'll get in bed with the Mrs. early in the morning.

VEY smart move. How old was Jr when he finally slept in his own bed without fear, if I may ask?
I don't think Becky will give it up any time soon.

I don't know that there was ever really a fear issue. A lot of times though it was easier for me to take him to bed than to get him to just go to bed.
Last time I remember was the night his cat died. He was seven, but that was a special circumstance.
Oh wait, there was also that one time right before Luke was born (Jr. was 10) that we lost power for 2 days due to an ice/snow storm. We all piled up in one bed under every blanked we owned.
