You know, I think my grandma had one of those when I was a kid. Retro is coming back, though it would not go with a thing in this house.

LOL, no, what we have now was from the unfinished furniture store. PE put finish on it, and it looks nice. Chelsea (aka beardog) tried to use it a bit for teething, but didn't get too carried away! She much prefered drywall.

Actually, the chairs my grandma had were silver, and the table was square and a bit smaller (complete with cigarette burns from grandpa's cigarettes).

Yeah...this isn't like what I remember...but similar.

The tabletop was more sunk into the chrome trim, and I don't remember the trim being so pronounced.

But I remember my grandmother making cinnamon rolls on a tea-towel, and putting pieces of butter on the dough before rolling it up...she'd hand be a big old chunk of butter to snack on.

I must have been pretty small, because I remember sitting ON the table while she was working!

But here's a scary thought: what if Miniskirted Boromir had managed to seize the ring from Frodo--would he have became as great and terrible as Sauron, so that we would have Miniskirted Sauron? Yeah, I was just discussing this with someone the other day. Used to be, if you had challenges, you had to face up to them and conquer them. Now...if you have a reading disability, for example, they make special consessions to you, and you never focus on your capabilities. If that makes sense?

Elf-boy is a LOTR nut. He has seen the movies many more times than I have, except for ROTK ~that one I won't let him see yet since he is only 5.

The other day he informed me that he liked the Bakshi film (shudder) better than the Jackson film. The only reason I can find is that it is possibly because one is cartoon, and the other is not.

I cannot remember the due date, but I do know that the baby wasn't expected until about mid-March.

Jason didn't say anything about mom and baby coming home yet, so I am guessing that they are still at the hospital today. I thought 6 lbs was small too. Especially given that Elf-boy was 10 lbs 3 oz.

I am half afraid to get rid of these books, because I know that Elf-boy will be needing some different books to read soon.

Wish I still had my children's books--they all got sold at rummage sales while I was in college--sigh.

I agree. It reminds me of how when Japan conquered Okinawa they forbid weapons training in order to make the populace easier to control. The same tactic is being used against us, just more subtly.
