The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I have my appointment with my nail lady coming up here in less than an hour!So tell me your experience...give me an idea of how mine differed from yours. I don't have any way to base how horrible or how not-so-bad mine was!

electronically transfer it to the seller. OK... My question is..... who should be the 'seller'.... in other words... whose account does the money go in?

My question is..... who should be the 'seller'.... in other words... whose account does the money go in? The account should belong to whomever wants to handle the incoming funds, and disbursing them to other HHers who are doing troop support projects. And that's certainly not me.

Mine too!
There are a lot of good things about the South. Plenty of good things about the North, too. Quite frankly I can't think I'd really be happy living in most of the South - though Texas might be an exception. But I think we play up regional differences too much.
Heck, my best friend lives in the socialist paradise of England, and we get along. I don't think the Mason-Dixon line is enough of a seperator in this case.

And that's certainly not me.I would say you have been making plenty of the big money purchases and should probably collect more than you have, but if you have had an arrangement already with Kimberly that is working, I would think it would be best to have her continue to collect the money (she can likely upgrade her account to this business account) and have her continue to put the packages together unless she wants to take a break and let someone else do it for awhile! I don't think ecurbh and I should set up the account and be unnecessary middle-men, and we are not the best shoppers for the job, we don't like going to town!

When I set up my Paypal account to Premier status it was so that when we sold stuff on Ebay, we could accept credit cards. I opened an entirely new checking account at our credit union to be the verified account, just in case something strange happened and someone got access to it through Paypal. I didn't want em cleaning out our joint account! So I only pay fees when someone buys something with a credit card. Not sure how it works when someone just sends money and not as a purchase of anything. I guess there would be a transaction fee then, too.

OK, OK, I'm relaxed. Mostly. Did almost the full time on the treadmill...
except I walked the last interval insteada jogging...I have an excuse, though! I accidentally didn't set the thing on the level setting, so it was slanted and my calves were killing me. And I was too stubborn and lazy to get off and adjust it - can't do it from the console.
I'm partly just tense because there's somethin' going on at work...big shake-up in my dept. where some people don't wanna speak to other people, which considering normally we get along about as well as the HH folks, is a major happenstance. Very uncomfortable. Basically one guy made a big boo-boo that affected one of the major servers...he didn't MEAN to, but it's kind of a "he should have known better" situation. Most people weren't in today...tomorrow should be really interesting.
*sigh* So I'm on a short fuse today. But after exercise, a shower, and with chili cookin' on the stove...the world looks brighter.

Oh dear! We will try to avoid tickin' you off any more today.... hate to see you blow up!

we are not the best shoppers for the job, we don't like going to town! You don't even have to leave your PC. Just send the funds electronically (or even paper check) to those who are doing the buying and shipping. You'd be just the financial clearinghouse. A dedicated bank account would be a good idea, though, just so there's no chance of comingling.
Maybe if you stopped by PayPal, and looked at their non-profit "stores", you'd get an idea of how they work. Everyone could certainly mention the PayPal "store", but ecurbh could also have a full-time link (with the highly desireable credit card logos) on the web site.
And I hate shopping, too. Or at least, going out to go shopping. I buy everything I possibly can online. No driving around (that should please the liberals), open 24/7, and I save on state taxes while the "internet tax holiday" is still in effect.

Glad you're feeling a little better, Rosie. Good job on the exercise!
I'm leaving in a minute and I won't be on until after five tomorrow. So, I'll see you then - take care tomorrow, keep your head down...

thanks Rosie...
the song was "All of My Memories"
All of my memories lay in the life of the highway
All of my nights in old motels a sleepin alone
All of my days on the road with no one beside me
All of my dreams of a place that I can call home
Somewhere in the shade near the sound of a sweet singin river
Somewhere in the sun where the mountains make love to the sky
Somewhere to build me a faith, a farm and a family
Somewhere to grow older, and somewhere a reason to try
Cause Im tired of big cities and so tired of big city ways
Scrathin off sunset, and walkin around in the maze
Some sweet taxi dancer tryin to save me from bein alone
Ah its much worse than lonely there is no place that I really belong
I want to be home
Im leavin this city life In my mind Im flyin away
Im leavin tomorrow and all of the old yesterdays
Im leavin the trash cans the bright lights of telephone lines
Im leavin my sorrows of all of my memories behind
Ill see what I find
Somewhere in the shade near the sound of a sweet singin river
Somewhere in the sun where the mountains make love to the sky
Somewhere to build me a faith, a farm, a family
Somewhere to grow older, and somewhere a reason to try
Somewhere to grow older, somewhere to laydown and die

The interview went very well! He and I talked for about an hour, and he said he was very impressed with my experience and my ideas. Said that the job seemed right up my alley.
He's going to call me next Thursday so I can come in for Round 2 and meet the Area Sales Manager.
So...Round 1 went swimmingly...now on to Round 2!

Hmmm. I don't know that John Denver song! When SSQ gets the sounds set up on my computer, I'll look for it online.
