The first 2 segments are just SCREAMING at hints towards 911. I highly suggest folks watch it.
...and a lot of us refuse to reflexively presume that anything with women in it is due to "PC".
To me it looked like the real motivation for the changes was to add more "eye-candy" to the primary cast, and to enhance the possibilities for sexual activity/tensions in the plot (as opposed to just "what shall we shoot today"). That's not only *not* PC, it borders on the polar opposite (sexism).
Besides, as someone else pointed out, the original (Dirk Benedict) Starbuck was practically a woman anyway. :-)
Another hint that the changes weren't due to a "PC" motive is the fact that there are no significant black roles in the new BG, despite the fact that there were at least three in the old one. That's not something that "PC" writers would do.
Wow, where can I buy a mind-reading crystal ball like yours?
I thought all of those scenes are necessary. The sex scenes set up the treachery of the Cylon's yet #6 seems to be enjoying it. Did #6 kill the baby on purpose or curious about the strength of its neck? Why did #6 let the scientest go? Lots of questions about this new breed of Cylons. Anyone notice that the photo of the XO's wife looked a lot like #6. Didn't #6 say there were 12 models like her. Good looking models at that.

Oh, you bet yer sweet arse! That scene made me grab my 7-month-old and give him a few dozen extra kissus!
Another view is that if you look at it and what Number 6 said to the baby, ("You won't have to cry for very much longer") she was actually doing it a favor in a twisted way: Better to die quickly than to suffer through nuclear holocaust -The Cylons nuked that whole city. --PS: Please don't flame me. I felt really bad at that scene.
...because anyone with a basic high-school physics education knows that it's not complicated to "shield" electronics from EMP if you want to, and the Cylons would certainly have done so. For them it would be as much of a "no-brainer" as it is for humans to shield their ships from radiation, cosmic rays, and the vacuum of space.
Yeah, but don't for a second believe that China is sending us H1-Bs for anything like that.
Don't know what you are trying to comunicate but it sounds intresting.
Problem is, one of the twelve council members is a traitor who has used the 'peace process' as a ruse to render the colonies helpless. (Who might that be in today's U.S. Senate?)
The other problem (for the bad guys) is that Adama smelled a rat and did not stand down. That is why he and his crew and a rag tag bunch of fleeing humans survived to eventually make it to the lost 13th colony (Earth).
Which would be good except the that the Cylons can't be very far behind -8^).
The Vietnam was was "only" 30 years ago. But to most people it feels like ancient history (and in a sense it is). How many people today still take to heart the lessons of the Vietnam war?
The girl playing Starbuck nailed a few very Starbuckish ways, until she struck a superior. Starbuck would disobey an order, but he drew the line at assult.
The uniforms are the pits.
The ship models suck.
It's not a crime to look at women. Really, it's okay.
ROFL!
I swear, some of these posts sound like, "dagnabit, why are they letting those women out of the kitchen?"
I presume it has to do with her blowing stuff up. :-)

When the XO flipped over the table, it looked to me as if he was about to come after Starbuck in a rage, so she clocked him first in "pre-emptive self defense".
Sci Fi uniforms have seen better days. The chicks in UFO for instance. 7of9's jump[me] suit comes to mind, too. T'pol's special "decontamination room" uniform...
Uh, you may want to recheck your definition of political correctness. I suffered through enough Star Trek Voyager episodes to know when someone is using a so called entertainment show to preach political correctness at me. It ruins the show for me and I'm sick of it. I'll watch Babylon 5 or Stargate SG1 on dvd.
By the way, you did know the same guy who worked on Voyager (which was the absolute worst star trek series ever made) made the changes to StarBuck? His name escapes me but the minute I learned he was involved with the show, I made my decision to skip it.
It was not about who was best for the job it was all about PC. There are no "What If's" here, the point is they used females in the spots that males were originally used because of PC. No more no less. All one has to do is search the Internet to find this out."
Where in that passage did you see anything about "My guess is?", Facts is the buzzword here. If watching the new BSG floats yer boat then by all means watch it, but please don't insist the show wasn't trying to be PC, there are too many facts that say otherwise including "Interviews" of the Producer about the show.
