.................................................................

The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.

FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.

I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

*breathes a small thanks*
Sasso doing's better.

Heading to the airport?
*Screams*
I hate airports, the lines, the traffic, the rude baggage handlers, the baggage theft, the Janet Reno looking security types trying to pat everyone down with that 'special touch'...

Good luck, and Godspeed.
Safe travels as well.

Evanescence - Anything For You

I'd give anything to give me to you
Can you forget the world that you thought you knew
If you want me
Come and find me {I'm here for you}
Nothing's stopping you
So please release me
I'll believe all your lies
Just pretend you love me
Make believe, close your eyes
I'll be anything for you
Nothing left to make me feel anymore
There's only you and everyday I need more
If you want me
Come and find me
I'll do anything you say
Just tell me
I'll believe all your lies
Just pretend you love me
Make believe, close your eyes
I'll be anything for you
I'll believe all your lies
Just pretend you love me
Make believe, close your eyes
I'll be anything for you
Anything for you
I'll keep all your hurt inside forever never die
I'll be everything you need
I'll believe all your lies
Just pretend you love me
Make believe, close your eyes
I'll be anything for you
I'll believe all your lies
Just pretend you love me
Make believe, close your eyes
I'll be anything for you

Pretty, but twisted.

Welcome.
Love the band and have been hunting some stuff down.
Ben Moody left the band recently though, and that really rots.

November

A glacial transfer of the season
gives depth to the harvest,
the flavour robust with colour,
trees nearly unsheathed,
dusk arrives for dinner,
frost chaps the darkness,
dawn will be early to rise.
The phase of the harvest moon
has long now passed.
Rigid air brings forth snowflakes.
Consume the innocent beauty.
Spears of ice will soon hang from rooftops,
a blanket of white to cover the earth.
The year to begin and end in coldness.
Enjoy the warmth of your dwelling
with burning embers of a fireplace.
Keep warm and snuggle with love.

Hello everybody! Happy weekend, all.

A Cat's Life

Feline grace
with sculpted face
aloof to one and all.
Slanted eyes
contented sighs
curled up in my front hall.

Fur like silk
laps up her milk
as if it were God's nectar.
Paws unfurl
as catnip whirls
her high; a heady specter.

Chasing mice
is kind of nice
a huntress, brave and strong.
Bows her head
above the dead
meowing victory song.

On the sill
she poses, still,
a statue of such beauty.
Sees a fly
come flitting by
attacks, for it's her duty.

No cares or woes
my kitty knows
what living is about.
Carefree days
and selfish ways...
a purr-fect life, no doubt.
