You have Schumer listed as safe. Probably right. But we just elected a Republican governor, and if Guliani ran...

Bad news: GOP has no candidate who can take on Boxer Chris Cox? Arnold S.?

I think if we get find another Mike Bloomberg, then we can knock off Schumer.

All we have to do is show minorities pictures of Ferrer and McCall and remind them of what white liberals did to them.

Anyone around with a lot of money that can beat Schumer?

I'd love to see it happen.

I actually Boxer is more invincible than a lot of people think. Considering that she was perceived as vulnerable in '98 -- at least, before the Pubbies made Monicagate the center of their campaigns -- and '04 will be a presidential election, the right candidate could give her a run for a money. Granted, it would have to be a moderate Republican. I know this wouldn't sit well with pro-life primary voters. But let's hope they don't shoot themselves in the foot by putting up someone like Bill Simon.

Boxer is an extremist liberal, and she can be beat.

I love how New Jersey and California only are said only to elect moderates. I guess the media considers Corzine and Boxer moderates.

Other than the Congressional delegation, is there anyone else?

Obviously, it should be someone well known in the Los Angeles market.

Actually, I just checked out the delegation.

I have two main choices:

Issa or Bono

Both came from interesting geographical areas and have great stories.

The others are very boring, but Issa and Bono are exciting. The others look like the California Republicans who ran downballot and lost, thanks to Simon.

Anyone agree that either Issa or Bono is the best?

"GOP has no candidate who can take on Boxer." Why not Arnold "The Terminator," "Married to a Kennedy," Schwartzeneger?

Anyone who is available and really wants the job should take Boxer on.

My only stipulation is that the Republican have a pretty sharp mind, and have an excellent campaign manager. Sal Russo has to go. Ditto with Rollins. He almost lost an election to Florio.

Why do California Republicans have no good campaign managers?

Almost every state in the country has a GOP whiz except for California.

I know it is a big state, but you have to start in your base, and then work into Southern California.

Make San Francisco the state enemy.

Interesting list. I don't see Specter losing here in PA assuming he runs. He's quite popular and even though I don't agree with him on some issues, he appeals to suburban voters with his more moderate views. However, if he retires, I'm afraid things could get interesting. The PA Dems could recruit someone from the Casey Wing in the party. PA doesn't elect Liberal Democrats to the Senate, but a Dem who's Pro-Life and Pro-Gun would make an open seat contest challenging.

As of today, the sitting Dems look more vulnerable. I agree Illinois appears to be our stiffest challenge, with the open seat in Alaska next. McCain's and Campbell's seats will be safe as long as they don't retire.

On the other side, the Holling's seat is a realistic pick-up, especially if his rumored retirement comes to fruition. Dorgan, Murray, and Reid can be defeated, as can Miller, Graham, Edwards, and even Daschle, but we'll need to recruit some really marketable candidates to do so.

Forget about Arnold and the Senate. His heart is set on governor, and quite frankly, he'd be foolish not to make a run in four years.

On to Schumer. Pataki's 3rd term as governor might be his last. Does anyone else see him as a viable candidate, as sitting governor, to take out Schumer?

Pataki's 3rd term convenietly expires when Hitlery is up for re-election in 2006. If we play our cards right we can have Guiliani in 2004 and Pataki in 2006.

Since Fitzgerald is considered the most "vunerable" incumbant, here is a list of 'RAT candidates that are either considering or are being considered by others to run against him so far.

Personally, I think they underestimate Fitz. The 'RATs just won a near sweep of the statewide offices (they lost treasurer) by cashing in on our RINO Governor's corruption. But every Illinoian is accuately aware that Fitz hated our RINO governor more than anyone else.

Also factor in that we're talking like an $80 million personal wealth. That's how he easily outspend Mosely-Braun in '98 despite getting half as many campaign contributions as her. The IL DemocRATs actually have a bunch of spoiled rich kids who have NEVER held office trying to portray Fitz as someone who "bought" the election. Talk about hypocricy. The Dems can't cream Fitz with negative ads like they do with all the other GOP Senate candidates here. Fitz will be able to hit them back just as hard.

In any case, the likely Dems and the CURRENT odds of victory:

Gery Chico (D) - Ex-Chicago Board of Education President, Attorney & Ex-Chicago Mayoral Aide. Possible, but unlikely. Dems love "minorities", that might help.

Jim Houlihan (D) - Cook County Assessor & Ex-State Rep. Toss-up. He's pretty obscure but Houlihan is a Chicago machine politician that doesn't seem threatening and therefore it could be a repeat of 2002.

Blair Hull (D) - Investment Banker & Democratic Fundraiser. Unlikely. Liberal columnist Steve Neal's daring candidate is just an empty suit that gives tons of $$$ to party leaders so he can buy the nomination. He started an "exploratory" site for the 2004 Senate race before the 2002 election was over! Give it a rest, you unproven egomanic.

Dan Hynes (D) - State Comptroller Good possiblity of ousting Fitz. He's young, charismatic, and just easily won re-election to his office WITHOUT a good record because the GOP put up token opposition. He's another child of the Chicago machine and his daddy has friends in high places.

Jesse Jackson Jr. (D) - Congressman Again, possible but unlikely. He's more honest than Daddy and alot more likeable. But he's ultra-liberal and I can't see the soccer mommies in the suburbs voting for more black Democrats from Chicago.

Carol Moseley-Braun (D) - Ex-US Senator & Ex-US Ambassador to New Zealand Slim-to-none. They've done test polls and she's trailing by as much as 20 points in head-to-head matchups with Fitz again. Run Carol Run! I'll vote in the 'RAT primary just to ensure you get the nomination.

Barack Obama (D) - State Sen., Attorney & '00 Congressional Candidate Good shot at winning IF he's nominated. He's a muluttao state senator, a nice "center-left" Dem that appeals equally to blacks and whites. He WOULD have defeated Bobby Rush in the 2000 primary if Rush hadn't recruited another candidate to split the opposition vote. However, he is almost completely unknown outside his district and needs money. He'd probably lose the primary again.

Jan Schakowsky (D) - Congresswoman Unlikely. The screechy far-left feminazi would probably run a single issue campaign attacking Fitzgerald over a "woman's right to choose". Her fellow femanazi's would help her carry Cook County by a huge margin, but she can say bye bye to any support in the collar counties or downstate.

Hollings has indicated that he would retire. Who was it that put the confederate flag above the capitol?

J.D. Hayworthe would easily hold McCain's seat if McCain retired.

I'm not sure the spelling is correct, but he is an up-and-coming politician.

Unlike Salmon, he isn't disposed to making idiotic statements.

I think Simon could run well against her- what do you think?

Simon just lost a statewide race against the most unpopular governor in the history of the state. I don't think the GOP would nominate him for dogcatcher. He's through.

Many of these democrats don't look that beatable. Same for most of the Republicans, but I'd be surprised if Fitzgerald makes it. However, Democrats relish power. They want power badly, and without power, they can't do much. You might see some unexpected retirements in 2004. Hollings for one: if it looks like Dems are going to be relegated to the minority for a while, and you're 83 years old, what do you really have to gain by staying?

My guess is that a few will retire in 2004, but with a 52-48 split, they'll certain delude themselves into thinking that they're close to getting power back, and will hold out. But some may just not want to stick it out.

Edwards is running at 43% here in north carolina. If he keeps badmouthing the president he is DOOMED.

Good. His presence on my tv is appalling. He oozes Clinton.
