How about I got bit by an unsecured dog in my neighborhood over two months ago. There is still a large bruise on my leg and a puncture wound that just doesn’t want to heal. There was a $350 urgent care trip initially, because the bleeding would not stop.
That a good enough reason to dislike dogs and to have a healthy disdain for their owners?

There are a lot more bad people than bad dogs.
I’ll take a dog anytime over people.

Sounds like a good enough reason for you to not like that dog. But without hearing both sides of the story, I can’t say you didn’t need to be bitten. (Not being entirely flippant.)

A similar situation, that didn’t end in a bite, is why I’ve started carrying a .357 revolver on my exercise walks

It's certainly a great reason to have nothing but contempt for irresponsible dog owners - but the dog itself knows no better.

I know your feeling.
We have some “bad” dogs on our street. They bark, growl, get loose and prowl the neighborhood. Recently, they suddenly ran out of their yard barking and growling, and chased a terrified little girl into the street, where she was very nearly hit by a car.
The man of the house couldn’t care less. The woman of the house will justify it by “they’re just playin’” and “they’re really sweet!”
Those dogs are already damaged goods - but their owners even more so.

There are as many dogs in my neighborhood as people. At certain times of the day, they all seem to be out walking. A large group of them will congregate, and everyone has a furball on a leash. I love dogs, so it doesn't bother me at all.
They all carry pooper bags too.

It tends to be really bad in college towns, because a bunch of graduating students, don’t want to bring their pets with them after they graduate and dump them out in the open.

So file a $50,000 lawsuit against the dog owner. That’s what I would do. People who don’t secure their dogs deserve it. I’m a dog owner by the way.

Drool - for some breeds.
It's like having faucets everywhere throughout the house that leak stinky fluid on anything and everything but there's no plumber you can call to fix it.
