George Takei’s decades-long feud with William Shatner is rocketing into space. The “Star Trek” actor threw enough shade at his former on-screen captain to cause an eclipse, as he dismissed Shatner’s flight this week on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin capsule and described him as “not the fittest specimen.” “He’s boldly going where other people have gone before,” snarked Takei, 84, when Page Six asked him what he thought of Captain Kirk’s brief trip Wednesday to the edge of space.
“He’s a guinea pig, 90 years old and it’s important to find out what happens,” Takei added, as he spoke at the opening of “Thoughts of a Colored Man” on Wednesday night. “So 90 years old is going to show a great deal more on the wear and tear on the human body, so he’ll be a good specimen to study. Although he’s not the fittest specimen of 90 years old, so he’ll be a specimen that’s unfit!” During his trip, the Canadian-born Shatner experienced a few minutes of weightlessness aboard the spacecraft and delivered a lengthy, meandering monologue after he landed.
In turn, Shatner has blasted Takei, claiming that “there’s a psychosis there … There must be something else inside George that is festering, and it makes him unhappy that he takes it out on me … Why would he go out of his way to denigrate me? It’s sad, I feel nothing but pity for him.” Joining Takei at the play’s opening night were celebs including Joel Grey, Marilu Henner and Nicole Ari Parker. It makes Broadway history as the first play to be written by, directed by, lead produced by and starring black artists.

Takai is dripping with envy that Shatner rode an enormous phallus to space. He wanted to be the one riding the phallus.
I was a Trekkie. I started watching Star Trek Saturday afternoons in the 70s - around 4 pm I think it when it was aired. I also read some Star Trek novels. I had some models I put together. We’ve give each other the nerve pinch and stuff. A convention came to my home town and it was a blast. Good times for a 10 year old. Even some of the girls on the show I thought were hot. I never got into the newer Star Treks.
Over the years I’d read more and more about that series. A first popularly known interracial kiss on TV. Some interesting guest stars. One episode had zero speaking lines for any woman. The appearance of Spock was debated - some thought he looked like Satan. Speaking of visuals, the camera work for females on ST was softened during closeups. The producers thought it would enhance the feminine site. Whether true or not, there were some things written about the dynamics I never knew at the time.
Shatner had a bit of an ego and didn’t want “Kirk” to be lesser to Spock. Later Shatner stated Nimoy was his only real friend from the show.
“I have seen rumors that the cast hated Shatner during Star Trek”
They did but later Shatner said he was an idiot and became friends with all of them except George. I remember in the 70’s Shatner saying Trekkies were idiots and they needed to get a life and move out of their parents basement. He has since apologized for that comment and has become a regular at comic cons.
George, no one asked for your opinion and no one cares.
If not for Star Trek which starred Shatner we wouldn’t even know Takei exists
It's not hard to understand why they didn't get along back in the 60s.
Shatner the super-arrogant big deal star, and Takei not.
Shatner super-heterosexual, and Takei not.
Shatner and my dad are about the same age. So, if he’s 90 and he wants to fly in a rocket, stand back and let him go. (Shut up, George) Same thing as my dad smoking cigars again or eating as much bacon as he wants. Go for it, and let’s all hope we live as long and are as healthy as Shatner and my dad.
“Star Trek is lame “
You rally need to go back into your Hovel little Troll.
You have no real idea of TV history and social trends, nor of Rodenberry’s skill.
Star Trek was “cutting edge” before cutting edge was cool. multi-racial (multi-species too) with COMPETANT folks in place, Gals in Power spots, the unnamed guys always got killed first, Kirk bopping a Green Chick, etc . . .
Early episodes where almost stage-play like, with super performances from up-and-coming future stars. Like Twilight Zone before it, a real cult following developed over the years, not the Comic-Con crap capesters, but aficionados of the Craft, the technical skill, and the artistry of the series.
Sorry for you that you can’t see it.
That you use “lame” is hilarious.
What a Tool!
Sulu molests Tribbles.
I find that difficult to believe......................
I believe that distinction goes to The Wiz
I was definitely in support of Shatner prior to this flight. But then he was interviewed and whine about the pending climate disaster we’re facing. If he was looking at China and India specifically, he has a point. Otherwise, he sold out to the woke crowd.
When Shatner does trippy stuff he does it for the purpose of entertaining. Takei is just a jerk.
I read a tabloid story many years ago that claimed Shatner was a real horndog who tried to shag every warm body on the set.
An exaggeration, I suppose. But the article did imply that he cast a wide net in who he was attracted to.
In turn, Shatner has blasted Takei, claiming that “there’s a psychosis there … There must be something else inside George that is festering, and it makes him unhappy that he takes it out on me … Why would he go out of his way to denigrate me? It’s sad, I feel nothing but pity for him.”

Indeed. Takei is an ungrateful POS. After the original Star trek series ended, there was an Animated Star Trek version produced. The show producers wanted Nemoy and Shatner to do voice overs. Shatner insisted all the original key Star Trek actors be included in voice overs, including Takei.
No mean like an old queen.
Shut up, ZipperAss.
Jealousy is ugly, Sulu!
Anyway you look at him ... he’s a biter old man who’s opinion means nothing. He thought he was passed over for Trek shows or movies because he was Asian ... it was because he can’t act. A man has got to know his limitations. George doesn’t.
