Some folks here on Free Republic appear to be heavily into wanting to "make us barf" for some odd reason.
This is evidenced by the multitude of articles posted here that have "BARF" or "BARF ALERT" in parentheses after the title.
Apparently the poster is still perusing mainstream media sites - mainstream media that skews heavily to the Left and has an agenda to tag all patriotic conservatives as racists and insurrectionists who should be herded onto cattle cars and hauled off to re-education camps like they did in days of Stalin and Hitler.
So typically the poster comes across a particularly obnoxious article on one of these mainstream media sites that either contains totally fake news or perhaps an attack on our values and beliefs. The poster knows full well that it will only anger and inflame the rest of us here, who mostly are doing our very best to avoid that kind of stuff. However they have decided to bring it over here and subject us to it just the same.
By putting the "Barf Alert" at the end of the subject title, they apparently wish to insulate themselves, to proclaim to us that despite the fact that the article they are posting is going to make us want to projectile hurl our breakfast into the nearest toilet, that their motives are pure and that they just want to "keep us informed" on what the other side is saying.
Well you aren't doing us any favors!
We already know that the other side hates us. We already know that mainstream media is controlled by Leftists and that they are in cahoots with the establishment elite to help rig elections, sway opinions, destroy family values, erode the middle class and drag America into a socialist hell-hole in which they (the elite) will gain additional wealth and power over the rest of us.
So whenever we drag that kind of content over here, we are only helping the other side. We are validating them (as sources of news) and helping to give them power over us. The typical replies to these sort of threads is similarly depressing and chock full of "all is lost" and "system is rigged against us and there's no hope" and "I'm stockpiling bullets and canned sardines for the civil war that is sure to come."
Instead of ignoring them and taking positive action like building out our own platforms, our own media and organizing (like the Left does), we end up gnashing our teeth at all the things the "other side" is saying and wallowing in the negativity.
Speaking for myself, I don't come to Free Republic to get bummed out or to "barf" or to wallow in "all is lost" negativity.
I cut my cable years ago (and give some of the money I'm saving on it to Free Republic each month). I removed mainstream media from my life. And I'm much better for it. I'm a more positive person. I've kept my sense of humor (bizarre as it can be), and I'm physically and emotionally very healthy because I keep all that negativity out of my life.
I guess the only redeeming thing about "Barf Alerts" here is that it helps identifies the threads that are best avoided for my overall mental health (and to keep the nutritious food I just ate inside my body).
Frankly, I appreciate the tag.
Warns me not to click through (they did the dirty work).
IMHO, keep it up, folks. We desperately need more inside information from the enemy; that means getting dirty, and doesn’t mean others shouldn’t be warned.
“That pic is a BARK ALERT.”
Maybe not. Maybe that dog barfed out a frizbee.
I have a complaint, namely, that the text often posted after the headline tells us nothing about what the headline states. Part of the problem is that the authors of articles blab on and on before getting around to the subject of the headline.
Makes sense. I like it.
That's why we need a barf alert for most of the Establishment Media anyway.
I just posited a like sentiment. Agreed.
I get it, but 99% of the time it’s already known what our enemies are saying because it’s all the same recycled propaganda.
Every click on a fake news site brings them traffic and revenue. I will not click on them anymore. I want to help them die as quickly as possible.
So... If you dont want to read it, dont click on it. that is what is great about an open formum like this. You get to select what you want to read.
I mostly ignore it, especially the “barf alert” stuff. No information content, and I’ve heard it all before anyway.
Who needs to be brought down by a bunch of nonsense? Ain’t nobody got time for that.
no clicks for commies
People put all kinds of demoralizing posts here- thinking we don’t know what evil is out there.
I suppose a few truly sheltered people don’t know- but i don’t think they are on FR.
I don’t click on those.
If I want to know “what the enemy is up to” I’ll just go to CNN or MSNBC.
I don't know! Why does anyone post anything about the insanity of the left, whether Biden, the demoKKKrats, Antifa, BLM, Communists, Islamonazis, etc. Are they trying to demoralize us?
Why even talk about it. Let's just pretend like nothing bad is happening to America and the world. Then we won't need to come to FR and read all the "bad" news of the world.
Let's make a new rule. "No bad news is to be posted on Free Republic."
Let's just deal with the effect of the insanity on us and our families and enjoy the ride.
The photo was all about subliminally suggesting BARK alerts as opposed to BARF alerts.
Freepers are amazing sometimes.
I think reading and posting news we don’t like is important.
Opinion pieces we disagree with are much less useful.
Ditto all you said..FRiend!!
You are dead to me.....
Or simply a warning that some FReepers may want to just bypass the piece without bothering to read it while others may enjoy watching train wrecks. :-} If so inclined, don’t read pieces with that added to the header.
The Website Nazis on FR only allow Mainstream sources on this site.
Why do people post demoralizing MSM content here and then put (Barf) or (Barf Alert) after the headline - like that makes it OK?

And why do some people post vanity threads with headlines that having nothing to do with the article?
Right now my mind is drawing a blank on who that is. Help me out Sam. Who am I thinking of???
