I spent 10 years on active duty after four years of ROTC preparing for my commission. I accepted a four year scholarship and committed to the Army in 1987, at the tail end of the Reagan administration. By the time I was commissioned in the spring of '91 GHWB was president and riding a wave of popularity after Desert Storm. Little did I know that within less than two years of going on active duty, I would be serving under Bubba Clinton. Never even heard of the guy before the spring of '92.

Soldiers have very little control over their commander in chief.
