This week, online activists are taking aim at the classic musical Grease calling it “rapey” and demanding Hollywood cancel it. Grease, which stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, takes place in a 1950s American high school and so it doesn’t subscribe to modern cancel culture’s “acceptable” standards.
As demonstrated time and again, the political correctness police don’t just want to change the way we act today. They also want to erase things from the past that don’t stand up to their standards.

Yeh....at least one of the girls should go to an abortion clinic to get rid of the kid before she enters the dance contest.

I hope they don’t see one of my favorite movies from the 70’s, “Slap Shot” starring Paul Newman.

Surprised they haven’t gotten after Archie Bunker and George Jefferson yet as both said things that sensitive ears of today would likely find very objectionable.

I have never cared for “Grease”. Do you know what I do? I don’t watch it. It never occurred to keep others from watching it.

The only thing rapey about Grease is the music. It rapes your ears. Goodness gracious. That movie and Jive Talking or whatever that other Travolta movie was. They officially ended the greatest two decades of music ever. EVER!

The problem is elevating a few Twitter jackasses’ opinions when they should be ignored as the ridiculous busy-bodies they are. The proliferation of rage click-bait only empowers these idiots.

Hell, when I first saw it back in the theaters as a teenager I thought that the message--that the girl needs to dress and act like a slut to get the boy--was bad.
Good songs, though.

What this is really about is Grease has, i think, 2 blacks, both background in dance scenes.
Watched Twister again the other day - whiter than White Christmas.

Rape because the boy makes a pass at the girl in a car at a drive-in theater?

Well, Grease 2, that I could agree is actually “rapey” with the whole scene in the bomb shelter where the guy basically convinces a girl to let herself be deflowered under false pretenses.
To: MJacks4
I took my HS girlfriend to see Grease on Broadway. Later we went to see the movie. Then I went off to college.

Yeah, right...it shows that boy-girl stuff when everybody who matters knows there’s no difference! < /sarc >
