Back in 2017 when Wonder Woman came out my first reaction was that DC needed to give Patty Jenkins the keys to their movie-making department and let her run all of the franchises. That movie was that good. I’ve just finished watching Wonder Woman 1984. My first reaction?
We should take those keys back.

No spoiler: But the second half doesn’t do much better than the first.
That’s when the kid says “Sorry Maam, but I’m Walleyed”
Watched the second half after the kids went to bed. It was garbage. No spoilers, but if you are waiting for a payoff, there’s a section where you expect a payoff, and it is going to really suck for you. And then about five minutes later you are going to expect another big payoff and it is going to suck again and it is going to suck so hard and make so little sense that you get mad at the whole stupid movie.
It was horrid. Long and drawn out. Plot stunk. Acting stunk.
I’ve heard that the villain is an obvious Trump clone. Oh so edgy... oh so courageous... oh so brave.. speaking truth to power yada yada yada .... by what? Bashing the guy all of Hollywood and the entire cultural establishment already hates and has spent the last five years vilifying? Pathetic.
I used to buy “The Haunted Tank’’ when I was a kid.(12 cents an issue) Loved Russ Heath’s artwork.
However, HBO Max, which is part of my cable subscription, was showing it as part of the service. So, it wasn’t costing us anything additional to see it.

I thought about getting HBO MAX to watch the movie...$15 per month...
But, I decided instead to go to a drive in movie theater...$10 admission...I am in CA...
By the way, people could watch Wonder Woman in the movie theater...In Phoenix, Arizona...
By the way, Wonder Woman will be on HBO MAX for 31 days...
I do remember Lynda Carter on “Partners in Crime” on NBC...Back in 1984.
Loni Anderson was also on the show...
I remember The Haunted Tank! And Sgt. Rock.
She just wants to keep working and not get, “James Woods,” blacklisted.
He’s 55 now....and still smiles when anyone mentions Wonder Woman.
I would commit crimes on purpose to get lasso’d by her. Lol
When I spend most of the movie reading stuff on my iPad...you know its a bad movie.
And the weird thing is they had almost a year to re-edit it. The sound was bad. The action was bad. Wiig was horrible.
Gadot is drop dead gorgeous, and I always liked Chris Pine’s mischievous attitude...but it was a SJW fest and the writing was bad. The cinematography was great. But the script must have had 20 hands in it. And the director was shooting all of the different re-writes.
I did not get that all. I thought the villain was just “cartoonish.” Never got a Trump vibe from him at all.
But I never pick up on movie metaphors.
Fat lazy apathetic culture in love with super heroes
I don’t get it anymore than 45 year old men playing video games
The 2017 movie was ridiculous beyond measure. My wife thinks so too, so that makes it official.

Agreed for the most part. I personally didn't think Wiig was terrible, though I didn't think her character was very cohesive and I understand other people have trouble seeing past her as a comic actor. There were just so many parts and aspects to the movie that seemed lazy and amateurish (the costumes didn't even feel like 80's clothes except in the most superficial of ways, like they were all at an 80's party and some people didn't want to look too uncool), and like you mentioned, they had plenty of budget to get it right the first time and after the shooting wrapped, plenty of time for reshoots or editing to improve it.
I think the studio knew pretty early on they had a turd on their hands and were hoping that a summer blockbuster marketing plan leaning heavily on girl power and friendly media critics afraid to speak out against girl power to keep people from turning against the movie.
