What do you all think? Wear a mask, social distance yourselves, endure lock downs or take the D or both?

We’re already taking 10,000 IU per day, since March. Easy enough to do, and my nutritionist says it’s not an overdose.

Getting out in the sun should help a little, don’t you think?

I take no vitamins. Just eat lot of seasonal fruits and vegetable. I am past age 80, and have zero health problems.

I am avoiding covid-19 by keeping my lungs in tip-top shape with daily aerobic exercise on a treadmill. Already had probably a mild attack of covid-19 from the cruise in Feb-March. My body fought it off and the strange dry cough was gone in a couple of weeks without any treatment. Probably acquired some immunity in the process.

I didn’t watch the whole video but I was already absolutely convinced it’s vital.
My level is 70.
IMO Vit D screening needs to be done on a much wider basis, such as at yearly checkups, if you have one.
But there are also commercial tests where you prick your finger and send it in.

I've been taking 2,000 IU daily for years, get plenty of sun, and eat foods that are natural sources of vitamin D such as eggs, salmon, cheese.

I think that is a better combination than taking high dosage pills.

Perhaps I should clarify, it’s a blood spot test.
You don’t have to mail in your actual finger.

You’re in FL. Hard to be D deficient there unless you are a shut-in. Up in more northern areas it is hard not to be D deficient in the winter unless you take a substantial supplement.

Quite interesting & worth your time if you’re interested in the connection between low Vit D levels & COVID-19:

Ep74 Vitamin D Status, Latitude and Viral Interactions: Examining the Data [Ivor Cummins]

10 times the rate of death from COVID with insufficient Vit D levels (below 30 ng).

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Separate link, re: Vit D & influenza:

Vitamin D for influenza
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4463890/

Excerpt (last 2 paragraphs):

The Institute of Medicine recommendation for adults younger than 70 years of age is 600 IU of vitamin D daily. We are told that this would achieve a level of 50 nmol/L in greater than 97.5% of individuals.6 Regrettably, a statistical error has resulted in erroneous recommendations by the Institute of Medicine leading to this conclusion and it might actually take 8800 IU of vitamin D to achieve this level in 97.5% of the population.7 This is a serious public health blunder.

A colleague of mine and I have introduced vitamin D at doses that have achieved greater than 100 nmol/L in most of our patients for the past number of years, and we now see very few patients in our clinics with the flu or influenzalike illness. In those patients who do have influenza, we have treated them with the vitamin D hammer, as coined by my colleague. This is a 1-time 50 000 IU dose of vitamin D3 or 10 000 IU 3 times daily for 2 to 3 days. The results are dramatic, with complete resolution of symptoms in 48 to 72 hours. One-time doses of vitamin D at this level have been used safely and have never been shown to be toxic.8 We urgently need a study of this intervention. The cost of vitamin D is about a penny for 1000 IU, so this treatment costs less than a dollar.

So do you know if you’re deficient in Vit D?
If not, can you get it checked?

Anyone who is not getting at least 1000 -2000 IU of Vit D3 daily...is grossly uninformed

More by supplement if you are spending most time indoors!

And if you start to get symptoms- read up on Vitamin D hammer
