A little earlier today, Nancy Pelosi decided that more of the Schiff-show was not going to be helpful and she directed various House committees to proceed with drafting articles of impeachment against President Trump.
The White House issued its official response:
Stephanie Grisham ✔ @PressSec .@SpeakerPelosi & the Democrats should be ashamed. @realDonaldTrump has done nothing but lead our country - resulting in a booming economy, more jobs & a stronger military, to name just a few of his major accomplishments. 🇺🇸 We look forward to a fair trial in the Senate. 21.3K 9:13 AM - Dec 5, 2019
And President Trump had his own.
Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump · 4h The Do Nothing Democrats had a historically bad day yesterday in the House. They have no Impeachment case and are demeaning our Country. But nothing matters to them, they have gone crazy. Therefore I say, if you are going to impeach me, do it now, fast, so we can have a fair....
Donald J. Trump ✔@realDonaldTrump .....trial in the Senate, and so that our Country can get back to business. We will have Schiff, the Bidens, Pelosi and many more testify, and will reveal, for the first time, how corrupt our system really is. I was elected to Clean the Swamp, and thats what I am doing! 80.8K 8:01 AM - Dec 5, 2019
Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump · 2h The Do Nothing, Radical Left Democrats have just announced that they are going to seek to Impeach me over NOTHING. They already gave up on the ridiculous Mueller stuff, so now they hang their hats on two totally appropriate (perfect) phone calls with the Ukrainian President....
Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump ....This will mean that the beyond important and seldom used act of Impeachment will be used routinely to attack future Presidents. That is not what our Founders had in mind. The good thing is that the Republicans have NEVER been more united. We will win! 35.7K 10:11 AM - Dec 5, 2019
It is pretty obvious that this hurried decision to move straight on to drafting articles of impeachment is a direct result of the issue being a non-seller basically everywhere. While is is giving the left a thrill up their whatever, it is locking in Republican support for Trump and moderates are seeing it as a distraction and a political hit on the President. Support for impeachment hit the high tide mark weeks ago and is slowly receding. This is not to say that it will ever go away but it will only be popular among Bulwark contributors and others who have a pathological hatred of President Trump.
The Democrats should tread warily here. Mitch McConnell is not going to take the easy way out and simply call a vote to dismiss the charges though he could. Hes said he will go through with a trial. And McConnell will set the rules (the Chief Justice presides but the rules are made by the majority). The odds of him refusing to let the President call witnesses to demonstrate that his request of Ukraine President Zelensky was valid approach zero. The odds of Adam Schiff not being called if the Presidents defense team wants it also approaches zero. Biden has already said he will not:
TheBlaze ✔ @theblaze Joe Biden says he will refuse to testify in Senate impeachment trial if called http://bit.ly/2Pdv6UD
Thats fine and that is what President Trump is hoping for.
As the left says, when they arent saying something completely different, this is a political, not a judicial process. The imagery of the Presidents team claiming that this is all a sham and Democrats witnesses refusing to testify will make the case for dismissal in the most epic way possible.
If this goes to the Senate, neither McConnell or Trump have any interest in not discrediting the Democrats and the process. And it is difficult to see them passing up this opportunity.
There is a lot of room in this boat, but I agree with you.
the rats are stupid. but I don’t think they are stupid enough to follow through.
Biden would have to testify. Hes the alleged victim.
p
does she have to have a full House voter ?
If so, then I’m guessing she has the votes...
Like up their nose, a high they haven't had since they did a couple of lines the night before.
This extreme puzzling action by Pelosi and the House 'rats raise two dangerous possible outcomes:
The move to impeach the President on almost baseless grounds serves to enslave future presidents to the whims of a political House majority -- IOW, eliminate the Constitutional separation of powers. Future presidents will decide policy with a fear of impeachment if they decide against the will of the House majority.
Since the Dems appear to have no fear of consequences against them for their divisive attack on the Constitutional order, one is left to suspect that they have an ulterior tact to avoid legal or popular retribution -- IOW, do they have a plan to actually overthrow the Constitutional order?
It is an attempt to enslave the presidential powers to obey the will of the House majority - i.e. the end of Constitutional order.
I'd love to see him questioning Dems under oath.
...and some RINOs.
They’re digging their own graves.
;)
You don't perceive the dangers here? Of course McConnell could attack these dangers head on... they must not be ignored! Al Green is ready to impeach the President monthly; that would turn our system of checks and balances on its head!
This impeachment farce must be dealt with in the harshest terms - even to citizens descending on Washington (peacefully) by the millions. We cannot become a parliamentary system of strict majority rule.
I am sure that the upcoming OIG report, followed by the completed investigations by Durham and Huber, will be so explosive that the stinking steaming pile of impeachment and its purveyors will be blown to smithereens. The impeachment purveyors, and a lot of other seriously bad guys will be crying to their lawyers, terrified and wetting their pants 24/7.
Why did the previous administration go to such criminal lenghts to try to oust Trump - before he was elected, until this very day?
To hid the terrible crimes they’ve been committing for years. The spying is the lid which will open up the can of worms, or for them, the giant can of whoop-a**.
If this goes to the Senate>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Can’t see it happening myself.
Surely the Dems have enough native intelligence to realize that this would be their downfall, going like lemmings over a cliff of a Senate trial?
If they do go for a Senate Trial, it will become a debacle from which the Democrat party will not recover for a generation. One that the Dem party desperately needs to rid itself of the sour leftist pirogies now controlling the Dem party, which truly is a party of blue Dog people who have allowed the leftist take over, which they now realize was a huge mistake.
A Senate trial will result in the complete cleansing of the Dem party.
President Trump dares them to cross the line! He is the ultimate swamp cleaner!
I think so too. I think the House will vote down the impeachment, which will help the Dems from swing districts get re-elected and get the House Dems off the hook for this impeachment mess without losing control of the press/dialog. Nancy can say she tried. Theater.
Thanks Chief. Choices every day.
DEPOPULATE them from the body politic. We’ve got to start somewhere before it gets crazy. READY - AIM - VOTE
That’s a great post in a thread of great posts. Thanks. Twisted psychopathetic taqiyya-talkin’ Nancy. A complete embarrassment to any government at any time in any place. In this fabulous republic? WTF? What’d they do...scape some crap off a sidewalk?
I suspect whatever Obama was holding over Robert’s,trump has now.
I’m not so sure, that might be something the Deep State holds close to the vest. Can’t see them giving Trump that leverage.
The Dems are at V2 past the point of no return at
the end of the runway going over the cliff
with catastrophic engine failure
they've got no other choice
Enjoy the show
