Bubonic Plague “Imminent” in Los Angeles, Says Dr. Drew Pinsky
Red State ^ | July 20, 2019 | Jennifer Van Laar

Posted on 07/23/2019 12:52:11 AM PDT by Windflier

Dr. Drew Pinsky, a California-based physician who now hosts a talk radio show, correctly predicted the current typhus outbreak in Los Angeles about 18 months ago. Now he is sounding the alarm about a potential outbreak of the bubonic plague in the Los Angeles area, saying that unless conditions change quickly and drastically, Southern California will be dealing with a horrific epidemic.

The last outbreak of the bubonic plague, ironically, was in the 1920’s in Los Angeles. Yersinia pestis, the organism that causes the plague, is endemic to the valleys Southern California and comes down through the foothills on squirrels and raccoons, Pinsky explained to Scott Adams on a Thursday podcast.

“[Then] It gets into the rats. When the rats proliferate, it gets into the humans. And we now have somewhere between 12 and 20 million rats in Los Angeles, and we’re one of the only cities in the country with no rodent control program.

“If you look at the pictures of Los Angeles you’ll see that the homeless encampments are surrounded by dumps. People defecate there, they throw their trash there, and the rats just proliferate there.

“The last outbreak was in the 1920s. It was only because of some heroic efforts by a group of physicians that it didn’t become a massive problem. It killed everyone who came in contact with the case zero.”

With the sheer volume of people now in Los Angeles, compared to 100 years ago, this is a terrifying prospect.

Downtown Los Angeles is now infamous for its trash piles, and while those are definitely part of the problem, Pinsky said the homelessness issue is the main driver of the potential disease outbreaks. Pinsky, who has worked as a physician at psychiatric hospitals, believes the homelessness issue has been caused by an inability to properly treat the chronically mentally ill and drug addicts. The people in this population, he asserts, will not voluntarily take up offers of housing.

Quarantine is such a harsh word. I think there will have to be a traveling judge that stands there with the police and the county health department, and writes up a 30-day order.

But here’s the other factor which will come up real quick once quarantine starts up. Most all of these homeless folks are alcoholics and drug-consumers. Maybe some nurses will correct me, but for this medication to be effective...I think they’d have to limit your alcohol consumption and eliminate all the crack, cocaine, and heroin for that period as well.

Whatever kind of camp or compound you are talking about....it has to be a fairly maximum security deal, and no chance of drugs coming in, or people exiting. This won’t be a pleasant place, and if I were a doctor or nurse...it’d be the last place on Earth that I’d want to enter and provide treatment.

Be careful what you wish for. When God takes out the trash a lot of useful things get caught up in the wave. (Why does the vision of a dumba$$ Peter Fonda riding a wave on a surfboard in downtown LA pop into my mind?)

... People in Cities Hardest Hit

Once I get my Anti-Plague Spray and Anti-Zombie Spray on the market I'll make a fortune off of California alone.

I’m surprised some enterprising conservative with a bunch of money hasn’t turned this into a Tourist Attraction.

Come see Progressive Row, be a witness to the Beginning of the Plague in Modern Society. Hell set up Betting lines in Vegas as to when it will Happen and how bad it will be. Make Garcetti and the City Council STARS!!!

That can be dealt with in much the same way, but you do have a point. They’re doing it right now but with illegal aliens.

Thank you for your post-- I did not know this.

To anyone who is interested in learning more about these rats, take a look at this page. It illustrates the differences between Roof Rats and the more widespread Norway rats.

Rats are everywhere here - they get into my fruit trees and wipe out my oranges and pomegranates.

My workplace is now infested with mice and rats b/c a new boss decided to get rid of the feral cat population that lived under the buildings - and kept the rats away - they even gnaw through the sides of the buildings to get inside.

At home, I have a champion ratter kitty - she climbs into the fruit trees to get at the rats - she's cleared out our yard of these vermin - gophers too. I noticed an exterminator at my next door neighbor's house last week - he said he's got a rat infestation now, I think my atomic kitty drove the rats over to his property. I told him to get a cat...

Where I live, I had never seen a rat until the other day when a dead rat was found in the swimming pool. That rat somehow survived despite Kirby, a frisky tuxedo cat with a voracious appetite who lives with a neighbor, and Sister, a solid black, golden-eyed senior citizen who loves catnip and lives with another neighbor.
