An unusually honest sign sits in front of a home on the market in British Columbia, Canada.

“Home for sale by owner because neighbor is an a--hole,” the sign reads.

According to homeowner Kane Blake, harassment from the neighbor is the only reason his family is moving.

I ALWAYS ask why the owner is moving. We had nightmare neighbors in California. So glad we have a quiet situation now!

How stupid can you be, he just reduced the price of his house by thousands of dollars.

The law requires disclosure by the seller and their agent, but it doesn’t hurt to ask questions. Agents tell the sellers not to be at the house when it’s being shown. I always hope they are there, so i can talk to them and my clients have their own questions.

Real estate is very litigious. if you have a situation or condition you don’t disclose you are inviting all but you will lose. Most RE lawsuits are buyers dissatisfied with something suing the sellers for not disclosing.

BC’s gubmint, and many of those living in the ‘lower mainland’ are as screwed up, doped up, stoned whatever, as Californication is, hence ‘British California’.

Of course, the Chinese investors, who most likely will buy the property won’t have to worry about living next to the neighbor.

Maybe he isn’t interested in selling——just letting the world know that his neighbor is a jerk———and the strategy seems to be working.

We had nightmare Paki neighbors. I showed them. We sold to a family of Mexicans where I swear there were 10 of them on the loan papers. Must’ve been 20 of them in the family.
Hahahahahaha

Ah, Lawyers ‘dream’ of these situations...

If you tell the buyer your neighbor is running a crack house or whore house or a wife beater or just a downright arse, you are opening your self up for a slander law suit.
(and will end up ‘giving’ it away)

If you DON’T tell the buyer that your neighbor is running a crack house or whore house or a wife beater or just a downright arse, you are opening yourself up for a suit for non disclosure.

I think that is obviously the case.... note there is no phone number on the sign.

I must admit that the phrase 'British California' is not an original. The author/creator of that phrase is Allan Fotheringham, a now retired Canadian political columnist.

'Dr. Foth', as he sometimes refers to himself, came up with some real gems. For example, he called our capital, Ottawa, 'Coma City' and 'Ennui on the Rideau' ('Rideau' being the name of a river that runs through the city.) He also refers to Vancouver, BC as 'Narcissus on the edge of the rainforest' and Victoria, BC (the Provincial capital) as 'Lotusland', a reference to the 'Land of the Lotus Eaters', from Homer's Odyssey, where the residents are all stoned from eating narcotic lotuses.

Back in 1992 I was being station from North Dakota to the DC area so I took my ten-day Permissive TDY to look for a house. My agent took me to a nice place and the owners were there. The man answered the door while wearing a robe and his wife was wearing nothing but a see-through thong and a tiny see-through bra that didn't cover even a quarter of her obviously silicone enhanced breasts. She never made any attempt to cover up and she tried to strike up a conversation with me about the house.

Needless to say it was a bit awkward for my agent and myself and he apologized after we left that house.

That won’t give the home any curb appeal.

I have been in a lot of houses one a shithole (literally) in Rialto CA. 3 people “living” inside; the smell of feces was so overwhelming we didn’t get more than one step in.

When i was parole aide working with an parole agent we went to a house where the woman came into the living room house coat only wide open nothing else. She sat and tried to pull it closed. He talked to her ten minutes and I stayed with him. She was looker too.

I hope if the owner does sell - he doesn't move to my neighborhood.
Parable Of The Two Villages

A man who was traveling came upon a farmer working in his field and asked him what the people in the next village were like. The farmer asked "What were the people like in the last village you visited?" The man responded "They were kind, friendly, generous, great people." "You'll find the people in the next village are the same," said the farmer.

Another man who was traveling to the same village came up to the same farmer somewhat later and asked him what the people in the next village were like. Again the farmer asked "What were the people like in the last village you visited?" The second man responded, "They were rude, unfriendly, dishonest people." "You'll find the people in the next village are the same," said the farmer.

Sounds like the farmer is an azzhole who can’t give a straight answer.

And yes, all my neighbors do have that same sign.
