Why the Tax bill will destroy Blue State Republicans AND the national Democrat Party
vanity | November 27, 2017 | Kevin J. Collins

The list of Republicans who voted NO on the Tax bill makes a very clear statement about the future of their party in the Blue States. They are a dozen or so poor souls clinging to the old politics way of doing things. Knowing he had the votes to pass a tax bill that would destroy the states these people come from, Speaker Paul Ryan gave them permission to vote NO.

In old pre-Trump politics this would shield them from effective attacks and save their jobs; but those days are over.

The bill contains the greatest attack by a majority party on the minority party in at least 80 years. It will end the SALT “State and Local Tax” deduction from federal income tax returns.

This will mean those who live in what the media and Democrats derisively call “Flyover Country” will no longer be forced to subsidize the Democrats purchase of votes using their tax money.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has called the SALT elimination a “DISASTER” for his state. Do we need more to convince us SALT is a great start for dismantling the Democrats shake down system of squeezing all Americans to pay for their vote buying schemes?

As time goes by – and make no mistake it won’t be a long time – middle class MAKERS will abandon the 10 or so states owned and controlled by Democrats because the “make up taxes” (see things like soda tax) will be just too much to carry.

When this happens more TAKERS will arrive as they will be squeezed out of the other 40 states by things like workfare, food stamp cuts and threats of deportation.

The unavoidable result of these factors will be that Democrats will be sealed into 10 states that look like Hawaii. They will no longer be able to offer a threat to Republican power on the national stage.

In 2018 the Democrats will take back most if not all of the few Republican seats in these states and “seem” to be gaining strength; but it will be an illusion. The 2020 census redistricting will draw away congressional districts lost by the hollowing out Blue States and give them to Red States. Lost seats will be made up enough to maintain a working majority for the Republicans.

Enforcement of voter identification laws will lead to discouraged and financially destroyed Democrats quitting politics.

Deportation and voter ID enforcement will make Blacks the Democrats’ only reliable minority group.

This will result in Democrats being forced to support things like Reparations and a separate Black nation to bow to the radical leftists in the Black Congressional Caucus. It will be calamitous for the Democrats.

As taxes rise in Blue States to provide Democrats with the money to buy votes, industries like Wall Street and Department store shopping that do not need a brick and mortar location will find it much cheaper to move to a Red State.

When they awake to these factors Senate Republicans will pass the tax bill. They will come to realize that their hatred of Donald Trump pales before the opportunity for lifetime job security his tax plan presents to them.

So far the Senate Republicans seem to be "getting it." The comeback of Roy Moore has forced them to actually look at the tax reform bill McConnell will prevail upon them to pass.

And what of the millions of patriots, families, churches, veterans, and conservatives who live, worship, and raise children in states like CA, NY, MN, NJ, MA, CT, IL, and others? Are they simply expendable political cannon fodder? Their lives can be destroyed in some half assed political sham of a tax bill? I guess we are longer the United States of America, and the GOPe cares nothing about the middle class.

And that's EXACTLY why preserving the Electoral College is so important.

It’s a theory, but I don’t see it working out so neatly. It would require millions upon millions of people of all economic and political stripes to rapidly relocate. The medical industries aren’t going to disappear from Massachusetts to a red state overnight, for example. Finance isn’t going to suddenly abandon NY and head to Alabama or some other red state. In addition many, if not most people choose their state based on work and climate. Montana’s been trending blue because swarms of libs are moving to a red state because they like the scenery. The rapid movement of people and employment that would required just doesn’t seem likely.

Taxpayers(federal) should not be forced to subsidize financial unsound policies that happen in other states. It has to end.

If California wants to pave their streets with gold for the illegals, then let California taxpayers pay for it.

The Pubbies are showing once again that they are stupid if they are not corrupt and complicit with the Dems: Reductions and the elimination in SALT, the mortgage interest deduction, and the healthcare exemption should all have been phased in over time. This is the way the Dems got away with Obamacare and it actually is more fair than a completely abrupt elimination.

Those things should have been coupled with significant, not piddling, reductions in the income tax rates at all levels of income. That is the only way that market contortions such as SALT, and the mortgage and healthcare deductions could be removed. Trump should have had his admin propose this up front in January, and used the bully pulpit to force Congress to pass it.

Alas, none of that has happened and instead we’re essentially handing what was left of a GOP hold on the high-tax states completely over to the Dems.

And for those from low-tax, red states—just remember that the high-tax blue states significantly subsidize your relatively low-wage, low-skill populations.

Nice analysis, even if it does seem a little too pat to me.

But tax cuts/reform won't pass. Not this year, not next. The ePubs are trying to hand back both houses to the Dems, and will work hard to see Trump gone in 2020 (or before, if the Dems try impeachment_.

It won’t be rapid, and doesn’t have to be. And for those who want to remain in blue states, it won’t be that onerous either, on an individual basis.

It’s time the playing field was leveled.

It’s a simple equation for me: Raise my taxes and you lose my vote.

I live in Massachusetts. Explain to me how this is going to really put that much of an onus on us? I think this goes a long way towards beginning to defund the Left in this country.

“It’s a simple equation for me: Raise my taxes and you lose my vote.”

I live in New York. This bill will raise my taxes. But I am all in favor of it because it is the right thing to do. If the Democrats are going to classify every component of the tax code that lowers your taxes as a “subsidy” then SALT is the biggest subsidy in history, subsidizing high spending, waste and inefficiency.

be forced to subsidize

Congratulations. You have fallen for the K Street, Mnuchin, GOPe mind control and propaganda campaign. Do you know what a “tax deduction” is? Have you ever taken one? What about a Child Tax Credit? Any deduction at all? Were you being “subsidized” by the rest of us?

My current idea would be half-SALT: Deduction of 1/2 income tax + 1/2 sales tax + 1/2 property tax for individuals AND corporations. This will give a nod to the states and localism, as was apparently intended with SALT in the beginning of the Federal income tax era, while keep a downward pressure on state and local tax increases. Also, the top tax rate, in my opinion, should still be no more than 25%

Instead, the folks supporting these bills apparently want to SCREEEEEEEWWWWWW wealthy people in blue states.

The GOPe, CoC and Wall Street have employed the most effective messaging and marketing campaign of the last 50 years with this meme:

“Subsidizing Blue States”.

Of course it’s not true. But there are hundreds of low information Freepers who believe it nevertheless.

Letting somebody is NJ, NY or CA keep more of THEIR MONEY is in no ways a subsidy.

Unless you’re a Democrat Social Justice Warrior. Or, dumb as a post.

Still, those words stir such emotion that some combination of these bills is sure to pass.

I live in Massachusetts. Explain to me how this is going to really put that much of an onus on us?

Massachusetts ranks #5 in states for individual filers claiming deductions for state, local, and property taxes. Currently, 36.9% of filers in MA claim these deductions, for an average of $15,572. Oh, this will affect you all right. Even if you don’t itemize or claim these deductions, the GOPe tax bill will harm your home resale value if you are a homeowner, and the House bill actually encourages states to hike property taxes, because that bill allows for some deduction claimed on property but none on state and local tax. Your state is going to bleed - and all because the massive tax cut for corporations needs to be “paid for.”
