Would YOU choose to live forever? Age-reversing pill Nasa wants to give to astronauts on Mars...

Scientists have made a discovery that could lead to a revolutionary drug that actually reverses ageing.

The drug could help damaged DNA to miraculously repair and even protect Nasa astronauts on Mars by protecting them from solar radiation.

A team of researchers developed the drug after discovering a key signalling process in DNA repair and cell ageing.

During trials on mice, the team found that the drug directly repaired DNA damage caused by radiation exposure or old age.

'The cells of the old mice were indistinguishable from the young mice after just one week of treatment,' said lead author Professor David Sinclair.

Human trials of the pill will begin within six months....

Standard sci-fi fare. Mission goes well at first. Contact is lost. Rescue mission is sent and finds all on Mars have reverted to babies or embryos. Cue dramatic music as the credits roll.

Even if such a pill existed, no one would live forever.

If you got hit by a train, fell off a balcony, get shot, heck, slipped in the bathtub, a pill ain't gonna fix a traumatic injury.

Reminds me of that line from the movie Kingpin...

“How’s life?”

“Taken forever.”

Frankly, I think the elites just gut babies and drain their blood for transfusions and organ repair...for similar purposes.

I second that. Some of the NDEs are amazing.

It’s worse than that. They assign childhood cancer survivors the label of being saved by this new drug.

The problem is that the conditions they’re dying from have nothing to do with DNA damage or their original cancer.

In fact, they’re dying from common “epidemic of disease” causes of death.

Thus, DNA damage either has little to do with the deaths they seek to.prevent or their heads are so far up their backsides on this that all this represents is just another drug to pretend they’re doing something for public health.

Not drinking the kool-aid...

I'm sure there are some unintended consequences that have yet to be discovered from this pill.

And I am doubly sure that those consequences will be quite horrific.

Trying to play God always turns out bad.

Robert Byrd would still be in office, and staying there until he met with some accident or was “accidentally” poisoned.

Imagine Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi and Hillary and Bill Clinton and Putin and other Lenin/Stalin/Hitler-like people living forever. Life would not be worth living for the rest of humanity.

The mystery of cell division is not well understood.
Cellular senesence was a big step, but why it happens is unclear.

No doubt it has to do with the telomeres. But it also has to do with the mitochondria. And aging in general “kluges” up the cells with various kinds of debris that the cells don’t exactly know what to do with.

One thing that can reverse it - at least some of it - is carnosine.

I’ve studied these issues alot, I already took about a months worth of NAD+, didn’t make me feel any different, but who knows?

Epigenetics probably play a role.

I’m 62 years old, just in interest of full disclosure.

I would love to back with my wife to age 21 and stay there for a century and then go to our eternal life with God.

The telomeres issue likely would still be present, limiting the replication of cells to a finite number of generations. Seems the treatment just enhances the body’s ability to renew damage, which otherwise would accumulate. Might allow perfect health through a moderately extended life, with a sudden rapid decline. A distinct signal to tidy one’s affairs.
