Would YOU choose to live forever? Age-reversing pill Nasa wants to give to astronauts on Mars...
The London Daily Mail ^ | March 23, 2017 | Harry Pettit

Scientists have made a discovery that could lead to a revolutionary drug that actually reverses ageing.

The drug could help damaged DNA to miraculously repair and even protect Nasa astronauts on Mars by protecting them from solar radiation.

A team of researchers developed the drug after discovering a key signalling process in DNA repair and cell ageing.

During trials on mice, the team found that the drug directly repaired DNA damage caused by radiation exposure or old age.

'The cells of the old mice were indistinguishable from the young mice after just one week of treatment,' said lead author Professor David Sinclair.

Human trials of the pill will begin within six months....

Well it still doesn’t guarantee you won’t get hit by a bus or shot by an angry ute.

My three months on intravenous Dilantin in the hospital experience shares your view. A horse, large tree, and a full gallop into said tree split my noggin.

The trauma, coma, and rewiring after a TBI was strangely euphoric.

Hell NO!

And people who wish to do so, haven't thought it through at all.

What happens to all of the generations born after you were supposed to be long dead? There wouldn't be enough jobs and do those of you who want to live hundreds of years, really want to keep on working all that time? If not, WHO do you expect to take care of you?

Such a pill won't necessarily cure/stop one from getting a terrible disease. So you want to live on and one and one and on through the ravages of cancer or something else deadly?

If you haven't amounted to much, during a regular lifetime, the chances that you shall do something spectacular, should you live many years longer is....zilch, nada, bupkiss, ZERO!

Do you REALLY want Obama, all of the Clintons, etc. to also live one to be 1,000 years old?

The above are just a very small things everyone mulling over this query should think about, prior to answering "yes".

My plan would be to work in low and unassuming jobs and buy into businesses through a numbered corporation. Even if 99.99999% of the businesses I buy into were duds, I would inevitably hit an up and coming business that turned into an Apple or Microsoft and then I could retire and live a responsible and quiet life.

Something tells me this pill is nothing more than Viagra and amphetamines combined. The amphetamines to a new user make an easy case for living forever. The Viagra makes the case for wanting to live forever.

Six months later all you want is sleep and celibacy as you welcome death.

Not forever, no. Just until the Mariners win a World Series. Or the heat death of the universe, whichever comes first. Holding out for that heat death...

I wouldn’t choose to live forever in this life. I’ve already chosen eternal life.

Something to think about. Consider how much emotional baggage you accumulate over a lifetime. If you could live forever, think how utterly mentally unstable you’d be after 10 lifetimes.

I probably would choose to live longer, especially if those extra years were good years. But forever? No, eventually I’m going to want to go to my real home.

Live forever and watch everyone you know and love, die? No.

Since it reverses the ravages of old age, do post menopausal women want to return to having periods and pms, again? I sure don’t!

I will wait till God restores all things and hope he has mercy on me cut I don’t want eternity in the lake of fire either.

I think those people are already consuming mass quantities of stem cells rendered from products of conception which nobody else is even allowed to know is a ‘thing.’

You are correct, but when using telemerase, giving a longer life to a cell strangely makes it behave proportionately “younger,” meaning it doesn't just live longer, it behaves like it did closer to “new.” This includes cell leakage/operational issues going away that older cells (have divided many times) have.

We are not talking about time travel. So you would not see those things at all, you would see from today forward. I do not see much to live for because it is only going to get worse from here I suspect.
