The Inauguration War The Left prepares its counter-attack on American democracy. January 13, 2017 David Horowitz
Reprinted from Breitbart.com.
According to Gallup, the average presidential honeymoon lasts seven months. This is a window when the losing party declares a partisan peace, allows the incoming president to pick his cabinet and launch the agenda his victory mandates. Presidential honeymoons are not only a venerable American tradition they are one of democracys pillars. For generations they have been ceremonial supports for the peaceful transition of power, and the peaceful resolution of partisan conflicts.
Not this election year. There will be no honeymoon. This year even before Trump arrives in the Oval Office, the opposition cry has been Resist! Block! Reject! It is not just anti-American radicals like Michael Moore, who has indeed called for 100 days of resistance to the Trump presidency, but by the leadership of the Democratic Party which has vowed to fight Trumps appointments, has attacked the election result as an expression of popular racism, attempted to discredit the Electoral College by falsely calling it a legacy of slavery, and even accused Trump of being a Russian agent, a pawn in the chess game of its dictator Vladimir Putin. It is a sad day for America when the worlds oldest political party, whose name proclaims it a partisan of democracy, comes out in force as a saboteur of that same system.
Nor is all this simply a fit of Democratic absent-mindedness. Instead, it is the culmination of a long developing shift in Democratic Party politics, a shift symbolized by the current favorite to become its next leader. Keith Ellison is a Muslim radical who spent his formative adult years as a vocal supporter of the anti-American, anti-Semitic racist Louis Farrakhan. Ellison reflects the power of the Bernie Sanders radicals in the Democratic Party who according to recent Gallup polls now represent its majority, even though they lost a rigged primary election which would have made him the partys presidential nominee.
The face of this new Democratic Party was revealed during a seminal moment in the second Clinton-Trump presidential debate. It came when Trump turned to the cameras and said, Hillary has tremendous hatred in her heart. He was referring to her now notorious statement that half of Trumps supporters belonged in a basket of deplorables, which was followed by her iteration of those she had in mind: The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobicyou name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.
What made this moment pivotal was that the slurs were not an idiosyncratic tic of the Democratic standard-bearer and leader of the partys moderate wing. They were the logical expression of the identity politics that had become the partys creed. If every political issue and conflict is reduced to a conflict of races, genders and ethnic origins this inevitably leads to the demonization of the opposition as racist, sexist deplorable. It is this mentality that has swallowed the Democratic Party and caused it to view politics not as an art of compromise but as a war against the indecent and the irredeemable. There can be no more succinct summary of what the Democrats rejection of the traditional presidential honeymoon is about.
Nonetheless, what was most significant in the presidential debate was Trumps readiness to confront Hillary to her face and describe her attack for what it was: hate. It was the kind of indiscreet character description that had become a signature reflex of Trumps campaign. Never before had one presidential candidate so bluntly confronted another. Never had any Republican dared to characterize a Democratic opponent in such damning moral terms before a national audience.
This why the attempt to reverse the election result, block Trumps appointments and cripple his agendas will fail. Other Republicans faced with such extreme attacks on their appointments would have thrown many of them under the bus. But Trump himself has been the target of such attacks from the outset of his campaign. The reason he has been so attacked has been his readiness to confront head on what is called political correctness but what is in fact a party line demonizing anyone who challenges it as a racist, sexist, Islamophobic deplorable.
This is the revolution that Trump represents. It will succeed or fail on whether the American people are ready to reject the racial, gender and ethnic divisiveness that has become the policy of the Democratic Party; whether they are ready to restore the American social contract that regards individuals on their merits, regardless of race, color or creed. In short it will succeed or fail on whether they are ready to make America great again.
Reading it now. Thanks for the ping.
Horowitz knows these people for what they are. Very clear writing here. Enjoyed reading his book Radical Son.

I have found David Horowitz to be both incisive and insightful of his analyses of liberalism.
His opinions on this are meaningful, as his experience as a full fledged leftist radical give him a profound understanding of both the mindset and the actions of the Leftists.
I have never been a liberal. When I was 9 or 10, I hated their activist actions in the 60’s and deeply resented their characterization of men like my father and friend’s fathers as “babykiller” types.
But I did not realize that the left embraced principles and tactics antithetical to American principles dating back into the 19th century. One can look at many of the tactics employed by liberals today, and see those identical practices used against McCarthy back in the 1950’s.
In reading works by David Horowitz, I feel that I understand liberalism in much the same way he does...and I have that same degree of matter-of-fact acceptance of what liberalism is.
In this respect, the fable of The Scorpion and The Frog parallels exactly how I feel about liberalism. Whenever they do something heinous, I am rarely outraged by it anymore. Instead, I accept it as one accepts the actions of the scorpion when reading the fable.
No matter how bad it is, I see it and think “Well. That is what they do.”
Horowitz rocks. He knows the left from the inside because he was one of them. He has them totally pegged.
I don’t know if anyone remembers but he did at least one Q&A session here on Free Republic. Took questions from freepers and answered them live in real time.
My favorite Horowitz book is Politics of Bad Faith which is a distillation of his autobiography Radical Son. It includes letters he exchanged with his leftist peers when he was leaving the left. It is some of the most illuminating, poignant stuff I have ever read. The book made such an impression on me that I have distinct visual memories of reading it fifteen years or so later. I can remember how the words looked on the page.
Really, really good.

P.S. I PROMISE I could disperse their protests peacefully and they wouldn't want to come back again.
The first order of the day on January 21 is to drain the swamp of the Communists and Muslims in positions of power in Washington D.C. They are working together to destroy our Constitutional Republic.
AFAIC, all senior people in the Beltway area need to have an updated formal Background Check. If they in any way radical socialists/communists/members of the Muslim Brotherhood or other radical Muslim groups, it's out the door and don't come back.
We truly are at war with these domestic enemies. Can there be any doubt now that they are working together? If we don't confront this now, the issue could deteriorate to a hot Civil War.
Obama mentioned organizing three times in his goodbye speech. Also, the biggest applause line in Obama's speech was his line about rejecting discrimination against Muslims. They indeed are working together.
The sooner people realize this is outright war for the survival of our Sacred Republic, the better our chances of survival.
It's not Left vs. Right, it's Tyranny vs. Liberty. Fight!
I'm not going to feel safe until Trump is sworn in and sitting behind his desk in the White House - - working...
bump for later
If every political issue and conflict is reduced to a conflict of races, genders and ethnic origins this inevitably leads to the demonization of the opposition as racist, sexist deplorable.
Not just deplorable but intentionally so. In their eyes, we chose to be racist, sexist, etc. after they pointed out the errors in our thinking.
ABSOLUTELY, Art.
Against all, foreign and DOMESTIC.
DEPOPULATE totalitarian subversives, liars, looters, criminals, conmen, collectivists, Clintons from the body politic.
HOORAY Mr. Donald J. Trump - hardworking citizen, LIFETIME achievement. Thank you, sir.
Judicial Watch has an article regarding Islamic Terrorists and Cartels teaming up and planning to hit targets during the inauguration time frame. This includes border excursions - from San Diego to Brownsville Texas per another article.
Gasoline Riots have already spilled over a couple of times last week.
Best to avoid the border this next week. Too bad we don’t have that great wall.
Another quick read which is not to be missed is Tom Wolfe's "Radical Chic and Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers". It's a great pair of essays on the rise of politics viewed through a strictly racial lens, and how it is used to beat down opposition.
I’ve read “Radical Son” but not the other.
Oh, you have to read the Wolfe essays. They are priceless! Radical Chic shows how the glitterati became enamored of the Black Panthers. Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers describes exactly what “community organizers” do.
Just requested it from the library.
