HBO's hit series Game of Thrones might contain some real-life lessons about family, but at the end of the day its still a fantasy show for most of us. However, the show apparently is startlingly realistic for at least one artist out there.
Namely, rapper Snoop Dogg, who seems to believe that the dragon-infested world of GoT is real ... or at least was real. When a reporter for the New York Post asked him about being a fan of the series, Snoop replied: I watch it for historic reasons, to try to understand what this world was based on before I got here.
Of course, this world -- a.k.a., Earth -- and the Game of Thrones world of Westeros are a little different. Needless to say, one actually is real and the other is based on a series of fantasy books.

It’s what I do. I toke and I know things.
“Yep, definitely a Hillary voter.”
You do realize Snoop was a key-note speaker at her convention? Not joking. I copied the below from CNN Politics site:
Washington (CNN)Rapper Snoop Dogg will headline the Democratic National Convention’s “Unity Party’ for donors in Philadelphia, according to a statement from the Senate Majority PAC sent to Billboard Tuesday.
The event will take place at Philadelphia’s Electric Factory on July 28 and will also feature rock band Los Lobos.
The Long Beach rapper, who has endorsed Hillary Clinton, is no stranger to political engagement and while he said he voted for President Barack Obama in 2012, he initially endorsed Libertarian Rep. Ron Paul during the Republican presidential primary, citing the Texas congressman’s support for legalizing marijuana.
A proud product of U.S. education. Probably not much of it, but he’s a multi-millionaire, which proves they aren’t as stupid as their fans are.
Has Snoop and Willie cut a duet, yet?
Snoop is a great example of what happens when a person uses too much weed. Too much of anything equals bad outcomes. I give him credit, for a man with no musical talent he’s sure made a fortune with it.
Vote Trump 2016
Ahh. Who would have guessed that Snoop is a student of "history?" I'll bet he's all for paying reparations to the poor dragons who were nearly wiped out due to slavery and reptile-abuse.
Snoop is just another of our pigment-dense, negro-speaking neighbors who actually believes, despite all evidence to the contrary, that his weed-twisted rationale resides on a relative par with the rest of society. Everyone gets a trophy for being just like everyone else. Poor Snoop.
A mind is a terrible thing...
Well played.
What you said sounds right, but the closest real-life parallel to “Game of Thrones” that I know of is a period called the Wars of the Diadochi (Successors), where Greek generals fought for nearly fifty years to grab as much of Alexander the Great’s empire as possible, after his death in 323 B.C. It has all the killing and sex, and even a bit of strange religion for those who are into magic. A few months back I listened to a hilarious history podcast about the period, from two guys who call themselves the Lesser Bonapartes. Originally they entitled it “Battletoads!”; now they have edited the recording and renamed it “Thank God Alexander’s Dead.”
“Once the magic was used up, dragons and other animals who depended on it died out.”
Ahhh, sort of like liberal democrats have just about used up their magic?
Largely based on The Wars of the Roses and the York and Lancaster branches of the Plantagenet family. Well dramatized by Shakespeare in his Henry VI/Richard III tetralogy of plays..
Too much ganja!
regarding the title... the third word should never follow the first two.
I give Snoop Dogg an indulgence. He believes in the Second Amendment.
Kind of like taking THE 47 RONIN and turning it into a Keanu Reeves semi si-fi mess.
Well not quite that odd. A lot of it was just George popping the mythic bubbles of the era. A lot of the nastier parts of the show are the ones based in real events, like the Red Wedding and the Gold Execution. Camelot the era was not.
George RR Martin is a plagiarist who simply stole ideas from Robert Jordan. The whole Game of Thrones is the Game of Houses in Jordan’s works. Only Jordan had less vile characters
