A Comment on the Allegations of Cruz's Infidelity
March 29, 2016 | grey_whiskers

By now, everyone with an IQ above that of roofing tar has heard of the allegations of sexual infidelity by Sen. Ted Cruz (Cuban - TX (by way of Canada)).

I do not intend to review the entire timeline of this controversy, nor to engage in rumor mongering against Cruz, nor against Trump; still less to attribute the stories to any other candidate's campaign or shadow cabal or conspiracy.

I just wish to note that last night, Sen. Cruz held a press conference with Carly Fiorina (ex-CEO, Lucent) in which he was asked to affirm that he had never had an affair. But even as he hesitated before answering, Carly Fiorina interrupted. Quoting from the article:

‘Why do you all dance to Donald Trump’s tune?’ she demanded to know of about 15 reporters in the room. ‘Let’s talk about the issues, please!’

DailyMail.com directed the question a second time at Cruz when Fiorina had finished.

‘Senator I’m sorry, this is a very serious question about your character,’ the second question came.

‘Will you just – if the answer is, “Yes, I’ve always been faithful to my wife,” can you just say so please?’

His practised answer stuck to the more limited denial that the National Enquirer story was false, calling it ‘complete garbage.’

‘It is total lies, it was planted by Donald Trump’s henchmen, and I don’t think the people of Wisconsin or the people of America have any interest in tabloid trash.’

A couple of things immediately came to mind.

1) Why is it another politician, and a female one at that, who is on the podium with him, instead of his wife?

2) Why does this female have to answer for him?

3) The reporter practically spoon fed him words to say to make the scandal go away. Why didn't he take the hint and the lifeline?

and finally...

4) why does his answer "...it was planned by Donald Trump's henchmen" remind me of Hillary and the Blue Dress?

It must be a vast Donald Trump conspiracy.

I notice that even Cruz's fans are no longer hyperventilating over the
(ahem)
"Cruz Missile".

According to Good Ol Lee Atwater: When infidelities are discovered: • Hide the spouse • Take her off the trail • Block contact • Delete Social Media • Present female spokesperson as intercepting agent for candidate • Keep interceptor with candidate at all times • Deny • Deny • Deny…. until denial is no longer a plausible option ♦ The interceptor is to deflect attention away from the campaign. ♦ The Candidate must not answer direct questions. ♦ Reassert candidate’s humility perspective. This becomes paramount to give space if needed in phase two. Phase Two – Interceptor drops out. When/if the candidate can no longer hide the infidelity, the reasons for prior obfuscation/denial was ‘embarrassment‘. Phase Two ends with re-entry of spouse to deliver the “we will heal / together” speech. Surround candidate’s optic with friends and family; or carefully host private one-on-one interview. http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/03/29/atwater-evasion-video-senator-ted-cruz-dodges-answering-questions-about-infidelity/

It’s the vast west wing conspiracy all over again. But this time they just blame everything on Trump.

Trump has nothing to do with this. He only retweeted a picture many days ago and has stayed mostly silent.

Ted and Heidi remind me a lot of Bill and Hillary. I wonder if Heidi knows, like Hillary knew.

Donald Trump is the new George W Bush!

(At least when it comes to a scapegoat to throw blame at)

How many more Trump men will smear my reputation? @RogerJStoneJr and @DanScavino...who else #SleazyDonald ?— Amanda Carpenter (@amandacarpenter) March 28, 2016

She's blaming Trump/Trump folks for "smearing her reputation"? Yikes.

I don’t know if Cruz had affairs or not. I don’t really care but then again what has that to do with whether or not he’d be a good president?

Btw, I’m voting for Trump. But I don’t like that sort of tactic. Let’s stick to the issues, man. Also, I’m not of the belief Trump released this info. Didn’t the Enquirer? Paper selling stuff and I think it’s beneath everyone.

When Ted finally drops out, will he apologize to Trump, or is he truly as much of an a**hole as he appears to be since the voting started?

Denial is ALWAYS plausible.

A long time ago my girlfriend at the time found lipstick in my bathroom. I lived alone. And it wasn't hers.

I told her she left it there, she has a bad memory, it was the cat's, she had a concussion long ago that affected her memory of leaving it there, “if i was gonna cheat, do you think i’d leave any evidence behind”, swore on somebody's grave (felt bad about that one) and I forget what else. and she dropped it after about an hour :)

I'm stunned to this day. Wish i could call her and ask “how the hell could you believe me?”

When the Daily Mail reporter asked Cruz if he had been faithful to his wife, Sen. Cruz looked like a deer in the headlights. Carly picked up on that an leaped to his defense. Cruz can blame Trump til the cows come home but that dog just won't hunt.

Our country needs and deserves a President we can trust to say what he means and MEAN WHAT HE SAYS!

Deny • Deny • Deny

This is reminiscent of Bill Clinton's 9-point plan that he used for dealing with this kind of thing:

  1. Deny!
  2. Deny!
  3. Deny!
  4. Delay!
  5. Delay!
  6. Delay!
  7. Attack!
  8. Attack!
  9. Attack!

I’d hate to see Cruz go out this way, but if it is true, and he does drop out, it’s his own fault. I watched the video with Fiorina, and it really made Cruz look very weak and pathetic. If it is true that Heidi is cancelling all her campaign events, it could be a signal that the Cruz campaign is headed for a major train wreck.
