While caught up in this Trump/Cruz war of words this weekend, impy and I were ripping up each other verbally when he privately admitted that he was not himself.
He was more testy than normal because his father had a terrible accident which destroyed one of his eyes. The eye risks infection and will need to be removed Thursday.
This Easter weekend was bad enough.
But with someone you care about being seriously injured at the same time?
Please pray for Impy's father and make a quick prayer for impy as well.
At the same time, we need to keep reminding ourselves -- that person you're debating is a human being. And not just any person either, but someone who cares deeply about the USA.
But I confess, I'm getting more polarized by the day every time someone taunts me or someone who I agree with. It will continue to stay ugly.
But I hope that all of us can at least unplug from this now and then, pray for each other, and sometimes even thank our loyal opposition for being a good person.
Praying for a full recovery.

I agree with you. Civil discourse and debate should be our goal. Emotion should be held in check in order to pursue the truth as best we can.

I have a few FRiends here I think, I only told a couple, some of you I am pinging now so you know why I’m not posting much or sounding angrier than usual, I was pretty angry already about what scum are doing to our great country.
I had to notify my brothers, my mom. Being the bearer of bad news....
His other eye is pretty bad so he’s quite visually impaired now, can’t read, won’t drive ever again (I mentioned the film “Scent of a Woman” and that amused him), he can see the faces on tv if he’s close enough at least and get around his apartment. It’s very difficult.
He’s 68 years old and was active, doing home maintenance, be very careful with power tools everyone, freak accident.
General anesthesia and surgery on Thursday. God’s mercy is all I can ask for.
So, my prayers shall be for your Dad and his well being. I ask the same from all on my ping lists--
Oh Lord, please take care of my friend's father. Comfort him, relieve his pain and suffering. Make his recover go gentle and quick so that he may spend quality time with his son, Impy, his family and friends. In Jesus name, I ask you hear and grant my prayer. Amen.
Okay, I’ll remove my mask at this point.
I have frequently pointed out that my honorable opposition is only over the top because they are patriots who care deeply about the USA. The greater the anger, the greater the devotion to freedom. Best to assume that. It helps us think of them in the best possible light.
That’s probably why you sensed a need to hyphenate my ‘confession’.
But I did get carried away with retaliating against impy right before I found out that his father had a severe injury. I’m more ashamed of that post than any other in this primary.
But we should also refuse to be silent in the face of malicious slander and malicious misrepresentation.
So it’s a balancing act. Best not to initiate the attacks, and retaliations should be from a sincere desire to shift perspective rather than to crush egos.
We should also attempt humor.
No politician should be a ‘god’ to us. Limited government requires limited respect of government.
