Megyn Kelly, Donald Trump & Equality

Henry Drummond: Madam, you may vote but at a price. You lose the right to retreat behind the powder puff or your petticoat.

Inherit the Wind 1960

There was one dynamic & theme of yesterday’s debate and the follow-up coverage that struck a nerve with me.

Anyone who knows me knows that I tend to be polite. I was brought up by people born in the 1920’s. I hold a door for a woman and I tip my fedora to them. I don’t believe in talking about women in the crass way that our culture does today. It’s not what I do, it’s not what I’ve taught my sons an I don’t approve of it.

That being said, I was extremely offended by the questions concerning tweets to Rosie O’Donnell by Megyn Kelly,

The question itself was one of several that had no place on that stage (Showing that the real difference between Fox & the rest of the MSM is not that they are easier on the GOP but are just as hard on Democrats)

Here is the full exchange:

Kelly: Mr. Trump, one of the things people love about you is you speak your mind and you don’t use a politician’s filter. However, that is not without its downsides, in particular, when it comes to women. You’ve called women you don’t like “fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals.” Your Twitter account…

Trump: Only Rosie O’Donnell.

Kelly: No, it wasn’t. Your Twitter account…

Trump: Thank you.

Kelly: For the record, it was well beyond Rosie O’Donnell.

Trump: Yes, I’m sure it was.

Kelly: Your Twitter account has several disparaging comments about women’s looks. You once told a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees. Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president, and how will you answer the charge from Hillary Clinton, who was likely to be the Democratic nominee, that you are part of the war on women?

Trump: I think the big problem this country has is being politically correct. I’ve been challenged by so many people, and I don’t frankly have time for total political correctness. And to be honest with you, this country doesn’t have time either. This country is in big trouble. We don’t win anymore. We lose to China. We lose to Mexico both in trade and at the border. We lose to everybody. And frankly, what I say, and oftentimes it’s fun, it’s kidding. We have a good time. What I say is what I say. And honestly Megyn, if you don’t like it, I’m sorry. I’ve been very nice to you, although I could probably maybe not be, based on the way you have treated me. But I wouldn’t do that. But you know what, we — we need strength, we need energy, we need quickness and we need brain in this country to turn it around. That, I can tell you right now.

As soon as the debate was over every single network was hitting Donald Trump for these remarks and it didn’t stop when the morning came. It was all about how Donald Trump was acting like a misogynist, who women were going to be offended etc etc etc.

That has been the these on every network since last night and the light of day hasn’t made a single change in the argument.

The problem with this argument is three-fold:

1. Trump’s statement concerning Rosie O’Donnell was not decorous, but it was highly accurate.

2. The Primary qualification for almost every women on these panels is physical attractiveness

3. When Megyn Kelly went after Trump this way he reacted the same way he does when anyone attacks him, he punches back.

It reminds me of a sequence from an old Justice League comic. During the big fight A Superhero from the future named Booster Gold finds himself face to face with a female super villain and they have the following exchange:

Female Villain: [Making suggestive pose] You wouldn’t hit a girl would you?

Booster Gold: [scratching his head] Well, you see…

BAM!

[Looking at the super villain lying on the floor] …in my time equality of the sexes is a given so we can hit anybody.

Female Villain: [Dizzy from the floor] Ohh thanks for explaining that to me.

That’s exactly how Donald Trump treated Megan Kelly

You can’t have it both ways, you can’t insist that women are equal and can compete in what is called a “man’s world” and then run for cover and profess shock when you are not treated under the rules of chivalry that you have rejected.

Donald Trump is not very complicated. He functions in a tough world full of strong men and women who he employs and competes with and in his world when someone hits him he hits back. He treated Megyn Kelly the same way he would treat anyone else who challenged or attacked him.

There’s a word for that, it’s called Equality.

You might think it’s boorish, you might think it’s impolite but you can’t say it’s not equal.

If the MSM thinks that women & men are equals then they should adjust their expectations accordingly, but if they believe that woman are fragile flowers who can’t take the punches that Donald Trump then they are proving that they, not Trump don’t belong on the big stage

Update: Megyn not Megan

Update 2: There is throwing a Punch and there is being an ass, or in the immortal words of Beldar Conehead: Mebs Mebs UNACCEPTABLE!

These debate moderators need to understand that they shouldn't have the power to decide who the people of this country get to listen to at these events. All candidates should have the freedom to attend and show the citizens who they are and what their plan for the people of this country is then let us (the voters) decide in the polls if we want to kick them out or let them stay.

If Megan had been thinking about what American's want she would have asked us to tell her on the FOX News website the important questions that we wanted her to ask the candidates at the debate.

Trump replied “thank you” and “I'm sure it was” as she dug the hole deeper. I had completely missed that.

The "Thank you" was directed to the audience, which was wildly cheering him for having said "Only Rosie O'Donnell." The "I'm sure it was" to Kelly.

When I want to see news I want to see news. When I want to see T&A I go to a porn site not Fox.

Good article. There was another question that bothered me. The one about Trump avoiding taxes. Don’t tell me that anyone of those moderators who probably make in the 7 figure category aren’t looking for every tax deduction or loophole they can find. Don’t tell me it’s raining when you are wetting down my leg. You can use the p word if you wish. I am just trying to be polite.

There was also an exchange between Kelly and Krauthammer after the I think they called it a debate. Krauthammer was discussing Trump and being an intellect. Geez, Krauthammer; being an intellect to you is like listening to the William Tell Overture without thinking about the Lone Ringer.

Well, that’s all I have to say. LOL

The so-called “war on women” is a tired, old (and probably quite irrelevant) nostrum out of the past two presidential election cycles. Why do you wish to keep this cruddy thinking alive?

It is a part of the Democrat war-chant and, as such, a part of the DC Political Establishment bada bee babble. Fox News has taken the Republican side of the Establishment, but they are no more amiable to rocking the boat than are 0bamabots or Hillbots.

Thanks for the BEEP!

You lose the right to retreat behind the powder puff or your petticoat.

And that was EXACTLY what Kelly was trying to do. She left her big girl pants at home that night and got her snarky elitist rear end handed to her on a plate.

Yes, tired of the media. Fox is MSM too.
And no, I didn’t expect Fox to lob softball questions, but there was an agenda there —right out of the gate.

Thanks for that analysis, good job. I posted similar on several other threads, we Ladies need to keep speaking up about this nonsense of the feminists. I am sick of their double standard and constant victimhood. Thanks again.
