A dear friend of ours has been hospitalized and had emergency surgery this morning.
The doctors removed the muscle of his right forearm and most of the tissue around his left hip. They say that he will not be able to use the fingers of his right hand and that he will not walk again.
They say the disease will remain in his system for up to six weeks, so his ordeal is far from over.
Please pray for him. He is a very, very good and kind man.
Our friend is a master electrician, and he is a young man.
There was little definite news from the update we received only a short time ago, but we did learn that Jesse looks much better today. Theres not much to know yet because test results arent in.
While Jesse was still sedated after surgery, doctors took samples of fluid from several areas of his body and they said that an area of concern is one of his shoulders, but they didnt work on that area because more extensive surgery would have been too much for him at that time.
Tomorrow they will go into the still-open wounds of the arm and the foot to clean them.
They think this began because of a blister, on one of his toes, which was caused by work boots.
There is some good news. Although there are two places - his arm and foot - where the doctors say they know the culprit is the flesh-eating bacteria, the hip wound, which is the third area where they removed flesh, was only a large abscess.
Other good news is that, although his blood sugar level was above 800, it is now less than 200.
Id like to tell you all something which will illustrate what kind of person Jesse is.
Jesse is single and it was one of our female friends who convinced him to go to the hospital. After taking him to the emergency room, she rode with him in the ambulance which transported him from the first hospital to the one where the surgery was performed, and she has remained with him since. She told me that he has not complained even once although every time theyve asked him what his pain level is on a scale of one to ten, before and after being given pain medication, he has said, Ten.
As they were taking him in to surgery the last thing he said to her was, Promise me that youll get something to eat and that youll get some rest tonight, and the first two things he said to her when he woke up was, Did you eat breakfast? and Did you get some sleep last night?
Jesse really is one of the nicest, kindest, and most selfless people Ive ever known.
I will print this thread so that Jesse can read it, so, if youd like to write a message to him in addition to praying I know that he will appreciate it.
Thank you all, again, for your continued prayers.
Thank you for your prayers, PDGearhead.

Praying for Jesse, in Jesus Name.
Grateful prayers lifted, for Jesse, and all who know and love this fine young man.
Dear Lord, hear our humble prayer.

We have a prayer group on facebook.I just updated them.((((Hugs))))
Thanks for the update. Continuing to pray for Jesse and his family.
Lord, I continue to pray for Jessie in his time of need. I pray You comfort and bless him and guide him and his family as they struggle to get beyond this tragic time in his life. I pray You attack the agent that is ravaging him and wipe this scourge off the planet Lord. We don’t know why it came upon him Lord, but we pray for him to receive the strength to recover and continue as he faces the unknown.
Lord I pray for this in Jesus name Amen.
Prayers lifted for Jesse....
Thank you for keeping us informed. Prayers continue...
UPDATE
We still don’t know much because Jesse’s test results haven’t come back yet, but there is some news.
He’s in a regular room now and says he’s feeling pretty good, although his pain level is still high. The surgery to clean the wounds has been postponed because his white blood cell count is too high. His shoulder is still hurting, which worries us, but all we can do is wait.
When my husband and another friend were visiting Jesse yesterday he did some leg/foot and hand/arm exercises, and he was able to stretch and move his legs and move and rotate his feet. Also, he was able to squeeze a ball so tightly that it was obvious that he has strength in his right hand.
Despite the pain, Jesse’s sleeping and eating well and he’s optimistic. (Jesse’s always optimistic. He’s also extraordinarily selfless.)
Finally, my husband told Jesse about this prayer thread and he was deeply touched. Jesse is used to giving to others - seriously, he does so much for others that he easily puts me to shame - but he isn’t accustomed to being helped or to being given so much attention. He’s very, very thankful for all of your prayers.
Jesse’s friends appreciate your prayers, too.
I apologize for not updating more often. I’m packing up the house because we’re moving so life resembles a giant whirlwind right now.
Thank you all very, very much for your prayers.
Much love -
pax
Prayers on the way.
