A contestant named Julian from Indiana University must be feeling pretty stupid right about now. And Hoosiers can't be feeling too proud.
Julian had the chance to win $1 million Friday night, had the puzzle fully solved, and then lost because he pronounced Achilles like A-chill-us. Because of that mistake, the show decided not to give him the victory and instead, one of the other contestants who know the mythological hero got the chance to steal and did. (To win the full $1 million he would have had to overcome some other hurdles as well.)
But alas, poor Julian' disastrous goof-ups were not over yet. Not by a longshot.
Next up, he could have won a new car! The puzzle clearly said PERSON. And Julian guessed....."C"? Seriously?
We need to seriously reconsider our college standards.

I doubt it, he probably passed all of the self-esteem courses with flying colors. And, if you really want to be disgusted at how far things have fallen in obama/holder's America, take a look at this: IU: Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs.
LOL.
Always a classic.
Stage fright is probably the main factor. He was probably much better in the audition.
Public speaking/appearance causes some people to lose 50 IQ points.
I’d like to meet the world’s fastest cat LOL..but don’t worry, this guy already has a spot lined up as a new host on MSNBC, he will be amongst those of his intellect
Yep——just bring back the Classical Education-—the pre-Dewey curricula which included the Bible, and we would be pumping out geniuses with Virtue in 5 years. People like Ben Franklin only went to “school” for two years. Lincoln, a few months.
It was the beginning of the end of America, when we decided to condition children in “education” institutions out of the family-—instead of in the Real World (experiences) which teaches Common Sense and autonomy....(individualism), not “group think”.
Book Learning comes from within the person, only.....and that desire “to Know” is killed with Common Core and ‘informational texts” instead of the greatest books in the Western Canon. Kids learn from T. Morrison’s instead of Mark Twain or Dickens——how fathers rape their daughters and get them pregnant.
The Leftists are destroying innocence and the Mystery, and Awe and Wonder of childhood and sexualizing children (Pride in sodomy)....to destroy Reason, Virtue and Love (Christian Ethics).
Dummy. Everybody knows it’s “Archi-les”
msn.com is calling it a “mispronunciation”. well, there’s friggin difference between mispronouncing and not knowing who friggin ACHILLES is.
What’s a dicespin?
In first seeing the phrase I’m not sure I would have remembered it was a Person, and that the R was taken. I thought car as well in the rush to answer it. (Did he have to rush?).
I thought the Achilles and “dice spin” thing were pretty stupid though.
WOF used to play the same show back to back but on two different channels. I loved fooling people in our house that did not know I had just watched the show.
But like you I would do terrible on that show. I can never guess the answers.
Sad....I guess the player took speech lessons from John Kerry.....as in Jenghis Kahn?
Well, there was the dope when given an uncompleted six letter word with two ggs in the middle decided it was the n word.
On another note, at a work-related conference some years ago, I met a woman who had appeared on The Price Is Right and actually won a car. She said she was so nervous she could hardly think or talk. She remembered people from the audience shouting prices at her, so she picked one, and that was the correct one.
Not defending the stupidity, but I don’t think English is his first/native language. He looked like a “skinny”.
