I saw that reg. The owner still would have to file the de-registration upon destruction/not airworthy/sold, etc.

I wondered (heck i know he’s wealthy) but if Rush owns the EIB 1 or it’s a fractal?

I’m trying to figure out if the FAA cares about the paperwork or doesn’t?

14 CFR § 47.41 Duration and return of Certificate.

(a) Each Certificate of Aircraft Registration, AC Form 8050-3, issued by the FAA under this subpart is effective, unless registration has ended by reason of having been revoked, canceled, expired, or the ownership is transferred, until the date upon which one of the following events occurs:

(1) Subject to the Convention on the International Recognition of Rights in Aircraft when applicable, the aircraft is registered under the laws of a foreign country.

(2) The aircraft is totally destroyed or scrapped.

No mention of filing for de=registration. Is this requirement specified elsewhere?

how is the FAA going to know whether a craft was destroyed or scrapped unless you file? suspension of a number because of lack of recertification isn’t instant.

Their registration was good until sometime in 2015 if I remember correctly. No suspension of that tail number would occur until AFTER the renewal date unless, sold, scrapped, or crashed. If not informing the FAA was standard, the Tail Number would not be even be considered for reuse until after the expiration of the certificate. The FAA can not just zap a current registration, Tail Number for nothing and give it to someone wanting to register a plane.

The Justices of the Alabama Supreme Court accepted the Amicus Brief from the Democratic Party of Alabama which includes the whitehouse.gov image of Obama’s Birth Certificate and a copy of the Mississippi Federal Court’s Letter of Verification.

The Alabama Supreme Court, is an appellate court and that means the Court doesn’t rule on evidence. Each Justice will make their own individual determination on what briefs submitted to them they find to be helpful. They may or may not reference any particular brief in their individual written opinions.
We will probably never know whether any of the nine Republican Justices threw the Democrat’s brief in the trash or whether they read every word.

What the Justices may find of interest is that the Democrat’s brief is written to support the legal position of the Republican Secretary of State of Alabama.

If that’s how the FAA works, just zapping numbers that are currently registered without due process, that is screwy and certainly not proper for public safety.

Rush, on right, gives Mark Levin a lift on N1EB

The airplane is apparently owned by CFS Air LLC, of Danbury CT. CFS Air is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Electric Credit Corp., a leasing company. My guess is there's no fractional ownership, and Rush simply decided leasing was more financially attractive than owning.

Leis transferred the tail number to another one of their planes. No big mystery.

where is that? that is an assumption, that is a possibility, but not anything i could find. to transfer, you have to file the paperwork, same as if you sold. again, if all one needs to do is screw on the paperwork, don’t file, decide to transfer a tail number on their own, we’ve got problems at the faa. for public safety that data needs to be current and accurate.

FAA website disclaimer:

However, this data alone does not provide the basis for a determination regarding the airworthiness of an aircraft or the current aircraft configuration. For specific information, you may request a copy of the aircraft record at http://aircraft.faa.gov/e.gov/ND/

I saw their disclaimer earlier, also their January 22 backlog date. Still, despite all this, one can NOT just peel off the tail number and stick it on another plane. They might be late, but the fact is the owner can’t do it without FAA authority and approval. All that stuff, serial number, model number, manufacturer, owner, ALL has to be correct. The FAA will not cancel a current registration without reason. Current being, sold, salvaged, crashed, inoperable. That comes from the owner, not the news media. If a registration is past due, they will still make an effort and not automatically give to another plane owner. Not going to happen. It couldn’t happen. Imagine the chaos if no one had to file a thing and the FAA didn’t care?

Here's another image of the Cessna and sisters:

The remarks posted with this image reads:

"N687MA (cn 208B1002) Now with their titles stripped, these three former Pacific Air Express Cessna Grand Caravans line up the ramp at Honolulu Airport, soaking in the sun all day like the tourists on Waikiki Beach."

Leis Air flew an Aviocar with tail number N687MA on Jan 5, 2014 from Sleetmute, AK to Anchorage, AK

How do you think that happened?

nice looking planes, but only one can have the N687 number. in reviewing other registrations of a company (last year), they had same models, and different models. all had a different tail number. i’m not sure we are all not thinking the same thing, paperwork slow? site not updated? data base not updated?, but paperwork has to be filed rain or shine. there isn’t an owner-do-whatever-they-want protocol by the FAA concerning ignoring registration. someone may just not renew, and the FAA would eventually suspend that number until they make contact or not, but this tail number and it’s associated registration was current at the time of crash and renew date next year IIRC.

Leis flew a different plane in Alaska with the tail number, the FAA website disclaims the currency of the data, yet because the website does not show the transfer it must not have happened, is that it? Leis didn’t transfer the number to another of their planes?

Who’s making assumptions?
