The photos of the Loretta Fuddy Cessna crash that Josh Lang provided to the media? They weren't of the same plane. The plane that crashed with Fuddy in it had a window between the door and the tail; Lang's photos don't. (I've got photos at my blog and in the first post I'll post them so you can compare the 2 planes)
Lang apparently had photos of a DIFFERENT plane ditching in the water and gave them to the media, claiming they were of this crash, and apparently the media didn't check out the genuineness of the photos...
Now why would Lang do that? Why would he post images of the area with no passengers or anything else in the water ANYWHERE, rather than taking photos of what was actually there and giving those to the media?
That is indeed the NTSB's plan.
Of course, there would have been no motive for helping the engine along, especially so close to shore. If smart conspirators wanted to kill Fuddy in a plane crash, why didn't they do just that? Over open water with no survivors or other witnesses?
- That the plane was so badly, purposefully (?) mangled is an issue. Why? To hide a non-failure? To hide recovery negligence? I'm confident the plane could have been brought up using floatation devices without damage.
No, it isn't. I see no reason to doubt salvager Patrick Ross's account of the plane's condition.
- With the plane going down so shortly after take-off, the pilot must have been familiar with the waters where he brought it down. It would be conceivable that, were he "in on bring it down", he could've placed it where there was one or more divers. Alternately, the pilot could've brought it down onto a pre-arranged GPS waypoint. Such a waypoint might still have been accessible from the recovery of an "un-mangled" Caravan GPS receiver.
That's absurd. Please don't ever conspire to murder somebody. Either the person will survive, or you will get caught, or both.
- Interesting that the "spiraling into the ocean" GMA info-babe comes out with "Fernidand."
What does infobabe air-headedness have to do with anything?
If you look at the (blueish) picture in Post 21, you certainly can’t read the tail number, but the blurred smudges that make it up seem to end in something of the form of “MA”, which is correct.

Looks like that Bracken fellow.
The shadow says the upper part of the door is there.
How much time has transpired between the one photograph and the other — look at the shadows.
The people didn’t hang around the plane as it was sinking — they floated or swam away from it.
Puentes has video of Fuddy and Yamamoto right by the door of the plane when the top of the 2 windows between the wing and the door is just submerged and the bottom of the back window is already in the water.
Lang’s image has the top of the 2 windows between the wing and the door not quite submerged yet (the frame of the window still shows) and the bottom of the back window just getting ready to go into the water. And no people ANYWHERE, within probably 2x the wing’s length.
If these were photos of the same event they had to have been taken close together in time. So where did all the people go? Lang says he saw the people in life jackets - so where are they in his photos?
Close to being the same plane then. Maybe?
Nope. It's N687MA.
Careful bub - you're making sense in a sea of goofballs.
Thanks for that...so the image credited to Josh that shows an aircraft wing on the right, can’t be the photograph he took from the helicopter. That might have some effect on the timing. The closer image of the aircraft in the water was taken by some other aircraft sometime later, after the striken aircraft was already partly submerged and the passengers had drifted away from it.
Wouldn’t be the first time someone in a newspaper office misidentified the source of an image.
Actually, I did check N687MA. I just typed the number wrong in the post.
The door is not closed on the Lang photo. You can see there is a shadow from the opened door on the top of the plane from about 10:00 to 4:00. Underneath that shadow on the side of the plane is the opened door. To the left of that is a window.
May be nothing .. just throwin' it out there.
Yes, I saw what was being talked about when I saw the shadow on the top of the plane.
But now the question becomes what happened to the people? See my last past (or whenever it was) where I described how close in time (based on the progression of the plane sinking) Fred’s image (with Fuddy and Yamamoto by the plane’s door, Holstein swimming along the wing, etc) and Lang’s image are. But Fred’s image is from Puentes’ video which at that time had EVERYBODY in the area between the wing and the tail. Lang’s image has nobody in that space PLUS about another wing’s length out from the wing.
How can these be photos of the same event?
There's good reason to ask if that photo of the plane in the water with the windows nearest to the wing barely visible, is actually an image supplied by Josh, the helicopter pilot. It's starting to look like that image was taken from an AIRCRAFT not a helicopter, and quite some time AFTER Josh took his photo.
This image may have been attributed to Josh in error:

Which of those images would have been taken first - the one with the windows not yet in the water (Lang’s), or the one with all the windows in the water (Puentes’)?
Did the front windows (between the wing and the door) go into the water (as shown in Puentes’ video) and then come back out of the water (as shown in Lang’s video)?
For Lang’s photo to have been taken after the people got out of the area, that is what would have had to happen.
Seems to me that would only happen if the tail was heavy and pulled up the front of the plane behind ithe wings. With this plane’s center of gravity, is that even possible?
