Longtime YouTube political poster, Christopher Greene, makes a strong case for why the state of Texas will secede from the union.
I was an adult when that happened and know she owned it, was public knowledge at the time. Maybe Exxon bought it from her so Exxon could give it without her name on it. That part I don’t know but it was her land. At the time, I thought “well, they are keeping it in the family and naming it after her, Lady Bird Johnson - Johnson Space Center. People think it was named after Lyndon Johnson and not the wife, Lady Bird.
I just looked at some info. about Lady Bird and her father (last name Taylor) owned 15,000 acres of Texas land. It doesn’t specify where that land was. It was only after the death of Lyndon that the space center was named after “him” and there is a picture of Lady Bird present at that naming.
“Then consider what their reaction will be when told all those programs go away. That is why Texas wont secede; upwards of half their population would suffer as a result.”
You assume too much - if Texas needed to secede, that long list of programs you listed likely would have already gone away. We wouldn’t secede just because we thought it was a neat thing to do - the country would have to be in dire straits for us to do that and that means those govn. programs were likely defunct.
RE The Pink Rifle:
Pink clashes with my camo... haha!!!
Should it come to a tussle, me and “Ol’ Painless” will work our way westward to join you!!!
“Ol’ Painless” got her chops in back in late ‘44/45 against some guys wearing Feldgrau in the snows of Belgium - and she still has a lot of fight left in her.
Crockett is one of my heroes. “Ya’ll can go to Hell... I’m going to Texas!” Gotta love that attitude.
It’s so....AMERICAN....
Now who's assuming too much?
We wouldnt secede just because we thought it was a neat thing to do...
That seems to be reason enough for a lot on this thread.
“We arent quite as Liberal as the other states yet, but we are getting there.”
All our state office elected officials are Republicans, no Democrats. If one of those turned liberal, he would be voted out. When Democrats are in the majority of state offices, then there is a problem, but not until then.
I’ve been here, I’ve been there.
Haven’t really had as much to say recently. It all seems to be kind of repetitive at this point.
“Are you outraged at this latest illegal thing some government agent/agency is doing?”
“Yes.”
“Well... Ok then...”
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
I’ve been to the Alamo. Knowing it’s history before actually going there... Let’s just say it was kind of an emotional experience.
“...Lets just say it was kind of an emotional experience...”
I’ll bet.
I had a similar reaction at Valley Forge the times I’ve been there.
Good to hear from you brother.
And as for the repetitive thing, I get that too. Got the same feeling sometimes. But it’s still good to vent it.
I said: “We wouldnt secede just because we thought it was a neat thing to do...”
You said: “That seems to be reason enough for a lot on this thread.”
No, there is not one Texan on this thread who would want to secede just because it was a neat thing to do. Every one of us does not want to have to do that, and you owe every Texan on here an apology for saying that.
I think not.
“position of strength “
You’re not dealing with logical, reasonable people. You would be dealing with liberals. They do irrational things like start wars for no reason. The vast majority of wars we have been in as a nation were started by liberals.
No. At this point, if I vent what I’m really thinking... I may end up losing my privilege to be here on Jim’s forum.
So, I don’t say nearly as much as I used to.
Roger that, brother.
Marcella, I know what you're saying. While I'm not a Texan (maybe I shouldn't tell you I was born in Oklahoma), I was stationed there for five years, and I've never met a prouder bunch of folks from any state. Damn good reason for it, too...if I weren't able to live here in Idaho, Texas would be where I would be. It's a beautiful state, the music is good, the food is better, and the women...Lord have mercy! Yes, God blessed the Republic of Texas.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Woof! To all my Manger Pound buddies.
Good to see you all!!!
Sheesh, I miss all the fun!
Saw this late last night and just didn’t have the energy to engage. Will try and go back and read what’s been going on here, as always, HI to my fellow travelers :)

Refinery Row is just a hoot and a holler from the San Jacinto Monument - - - .
I’m a Texan by choice, having escaped from the PRNJ about 13 years ago.
I say that it is past time to leave the very flawed union. We have oil, gas, cattle and fishing, not to mention a huge petrochemical industry and tourism (including for hunting). Oh, and we also have about 2 guns for every adult in the state, so nobody’s going to bother us (and if they do, it won’t be for long).
“...Refinery Row is just a hoot and a holler from the San Jacinto Monument....”
Ahhh...yes sir, it is!! Texas is about the only state that could successfully do this on it’s own and that just drives the liberal commies absolutely bazonkaas, ya know. Gotta have total control, ya know. The Marxist State needs Texas a helluva lot more than Texas needs them! We have the ports, the independent electrical infrastructure, the energy (all the way from the wells thru the refineries), the talent, the agriculture, the uranium, the Texas Air National Guard, MD Anderson, and the list just goes on and on etc. Not many places can say that. There’s more going for Texas than most small and medium-sized countries, not to mention more than those little communist/fascist dictatorial crap holes in the NE which were once sovereign states.
