Not counting rumors that Anthony Weiner's marriage has hit a rocky patch, it may be the worst-kept secret in politics: Joe Biden wants to be president.
On Monday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the vice president's inner circle is swabbing the decks, battening down the hatches and hoisting the mainsails for USS Bidenpalooza 2016. "Everyone involved in his world," a Democratic official told the Journal, "is engaged in taking all the steps that make sense to prepare for a run, if he does run." Biden's people are apparently willing to go for it even if the allegedly inevitable nominee, Hillary Rodham Clinton, decides to run.
Why is this happening?
It's a difficult question to boil down to a single variable, given the swirling maelstrom of egos, agendas and issues at play. Still, one answer does seem to cover the waterfront: because ours is a just and generous God. From my admittedly selfish perspective, a Biden candidacy would be great for everybody and by everybody I mean people who would like to see the Democratic Party descend into a chaotic food fight.
Indeed, while most of the punditocracy is obsessed with turning the mostly trivial sniping between New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) into proof of a bloody civil war on the right, the Democrats are poised to descend into a family squabble of historic proportions. It would be a lot of fun to watch.

Yes, something that all comedians would agree upon.
Go for it. He’s as qualified as the current dimwit...
Let's not sit back and just make fun of the VP, let's do everything in our power to elect a real, serious and viable Conservative who can appeal to the masses.
Biden is a clown but then again, Obama is a community organizer and look where he is sitting today.
Please! Please!
An arrogant, dishonest, vicious, stingy, baby-killing, “Catholic” dimwit. Someone who doesn’t have a thousandth of the character or brains needed to govern wisely or well, seeking the most powerful office in the world.
A mass of delusions, including delusions of adequacy.
Please! Please! Let him be the nominee!
I can understand your sentiments and I agree with the basics of the facts you cite.
However, I say lets pick up a trick from Rules for Radicals and select Joe Biden, isolate him, and attack him with Ridicule. Short Bus Joe, Biden the Dimwitted Idiot, Clueless Joe and so on.
On every mention of him, a guffaw should be the retort. If it is concentrated enough the liberal media and the political apparatchiks will have to defend him, expend energy and time in counteracting the claims. This is the ideal thing to happen. Force the media and pundits to NOT IGNORED the elephant in the room - Biden is going to have to take on Hillary!
Right now, they are getting away with a story line that reads if there were two different upcoming races, one for Hillary, in the real world, where she gets elected President, and the other for Biden, you know - in Bizarro World, where he runs and is magically elected.
I say don’t discount him. Ridicule him, yes, but don’t discount him. Make them defend him as if he actually had some value here.
About 1/2 of voters would vote for the pinhead...maybe more.
...from your mouth to G-d’s ears...
He’ll be running on the “Stupid is as Stupid does” platform.
For some reason, my computer shuts down when I type “Joe Biden goofy” on a Google image search. A blue screen appears and says “memory overload.” But when I do a Google image search on “Joe Biden intellectual,” my computer runs smoothly. Can other Freepers please post goofy Joe Biden pictures soon?
This electorate has shown a hard shift leftward since the last GOP White House win in 2004. As much of a joke Biden the Slow is to us he has a built-in advantage if he’s the dems’ nominee: he’s not a Republican. If somehow Hillary decides not to run (the ONLY scenario preventing her inauguration in 2017), Biden still has a much stronger chance of winning than whichever GOPer goes against him in 2016. Doesn’t mean he won’t stumble, which he likely will at some point, but out the gate, he’ll be in the stronger position.
GOPers have already blown it. Whoever gets the Democratic nomination for President in 2016, will coast to a smooth victory. But on the bright side if Biden becomes El Presidente, at least we can laugh at the clown-in-chief for 8 years.
And, right on cue Hillary will win the nomination. This is a set up to make Hillary look like the better candidate. The Clinton machine will sit back and watch.
Sounds like a good front bumper sticker.
Biden would have considerable appeal to Rush’s “low-info voters.” He could trot out his witty catch phrase: “They gonna put y’all back in chains!” And display his Spanish mastery with: “Donde esta el bano?”
You're absolutely right. This country has "jumped the shark." I doubt that what has happened can be undone. Some would call it defeatism; others would call it realism.
It doesn’t matter who is up against her in the primary; she will win, period.
I still think it is worthwhile making the DNC establishment walk a slippery line defending him along with the media up until he is beaten..
It’s no longer defeatism when there’s nothing you can do to change course. I’m still pondering whether conservatives should just go ahead an join the Democrat Party to make life a little bit more annoying for Hillary. It would be humorous if we could watch Ted Cruz, Joe Brainless Biden and Hildabeast debate each other for the Democratic nomination. Wouldn’t it be a nightmare for Hillary to lose the Democrat nod in 2016 to a conservative?
Simply by running, Biden would contest Clinton's claim of entitlement and light a match on the Hindenburg that is her "inevitability." It would encourage others from outside the establishment to run against them both as a pair of old guard retreads who want the presidency out of a sense of entitlement.
Biden isn’t worth it.....the Clintons are probably BEHIND his run, just so it doesn’t look like Hillary will ne WATLTZING to the Presidency.
