Our resident chef carlo3b (Carlo Morelli), is in urgent need of prayer.
On Tuesday he underwent a complicated surgery and is in ICU on a ventilator. On Wednesday his kidneys were not functioning properly and he was taken back into surgery. His daughter reports that he is doing much better, but still in danger.
He has many FRiends here at Free Republic and I'm sure he and his family would appreciate your prayers and any good thoughts you could send his way.
I hear Houston is the place to go for the best in cancer care.
I'm praying for Carlo...and for all the best decisions and treatment now and onward.

Ventilators are very tricky things. Their removal alone is a dangerous operation, with achieving the proper balance in patients’ breathing. Carlo will have another ventilator when he goes in for surgery as soon as next Tuesday, so that’s one more tricky operation, and may be the reason they wanted to leave this one in place. Depending on how weak/strong he is the staff could have been looking to avoid unnecessary and potentially dangerous procedures. Hopefully the family has made the right choice here.

The best way to get Carlo well is having his family right there advocating for him 24/7. I hope he gets well and sprung from the hospital ASAP. We Freepers need him back here on this forum as quickly as feasible. To the family, hang in there and continue watching over Carlo like a hawk.
Just now getting your update and have not yet read any of the numerous replies so please forgive if my comment is repetitive.
Thank heavens for this family of action. I now know our FRiend is in the best hands possible and will get the best of care. Can never accuse an Italian of being too timid. God bless ‘em.

Our Prayers Are Being Answered!! This morning when my daughter and I arrived in my Dads room, he was sitting up! I said, "I love you Dad" just like I do every morning, and this morning he said," I love you too!" I can't even begin to tell you how good that felt!! The next thing he said was, "ICE CREAM." Well I just cringed when I heard that, because I thought for sure I was going to have to say pretty soon Dad.. So I asked the nurse anyway, and she said yes, but the problem is we don't have any! Well Annie and I didn't even wait for her to finish her sentence, and we were out the door in search of a vinilla shake!! When we got back,the nurse propped him up while he had his mouth open the whole time! Lol!! She told us to go slow! He did so well! I can't tell you enough how much he enjoyed such a simple thing like a shake!!! As he was enjoying that I turned the TV on to his favorite channel, Fox News, and he was in his glory! I know we have a long road ahead of us, but I have never been so happy as I was today!! Thank you all so much for all of the love and prayers!! I read all of the messages to my Dad today, and it made his day!!!
