Sally Ride showed Generation X girls the skys the limit literally.
We could do anything boys could do and sometimes better. If we wanted to go into space, our gender couldnt and wouldnt stop us. If we studied hard enough and trained our brains, the glass ceiling could be shattered.
Amid all the girl power that Ride taught women, one barrier the first American woman in space chose not to break was sexuality. When she died on Monday at age 61 from pancreatic cancer, it emerged that Ride had a partner. As one friend on Facebook wrote, in jest, That lady astronaut was gay.
Yes, Sally Ride, a theoretical astrophysicist, American hero and feminist icon, was a lesbian...

and after that money runs out...I think our next project should be... as to which way a flushed toilet bowl flows in the different hemispheres and why?...(counter-clockwise in the northern BTW...do your own DD)..
*see..I was right wasn't I!....and 1/2 the freepers that read this thread just flushed for nothing!....*W*
Most sensible post so far. I wonder how many astronaut-qualified males were passed over to allow this female her chance at breaking the glass ceiling.
“She didnt want it, but the mainstream medias trumpeting it a lot after her passing”
The “reporter” devotes 13 of 15 paragraphs to Ride’s sexual proclivities, against her expressed wishes, one day after her death. The left just can’t waste an opportunity to expose the “feet of clay” on anyone who does anything genuinely heroic.
What this article really “exposes” is the complete lack of class of both the reporter and the Wash Post.
Good Post. Sally Ride was a class act and did not use her sexuality for gain, nor fame, nor politics.
Yes. She did however not make an issue out of it, shove it in peoples face and demand acceptance and praise for it.
They don’t give women different hurdle heights and weights in track and field events to ‘make them seem similar’, but to fit them to their physical scale and capabilities.
Sports can be just as exhilarating for women as for men and just as much a challenge. You sound like you resent women competing in sports at all.
Horses can run much faster than men, but that doesn’t mean men’s races are without merit.
Nope, they're IMMORAL!
In the immortal words of Andrew Breitbart, “SO?”
President Obama would’ve been more proud of her accomplishments if she’d been a muslim.
This was known before she died. Now that she can’t protest, the disgusting Leftist media will make sure they trash her name to promote their homosexual agenda.
yes, she is now in the history books, but doesn’t have a family or children to mourn her.
Sally Ride rode sally? I had no idea.
Who was the first straight American woman in space?
That depends on when Sally decided to no longer be straight. Who was her husband?
I keep thinking about the Cold War and how secretive NASA was in those days.
She had a 5 year marriage to a fellow astronaut Steven Hawley.
He’s not gay he’s on wife # 2 according to his wikipedia page.
So no way to know whether or not he was a NASA beard or whether they’re marriage was real.
Her girlfriend looks like Leonard Nemoy so who’s to say she was gay at all.
Some news article says Ride’s sister and I **** you not with this name, BEAR (Bear Ride, it must be a nickname, come on) is also a lesbian and a Presbyterian minister. Weird stuff.
Ever notice that Gays spend most of their time being “upset”?
I think that makes you his right hand man.
≤}B^)
Then she shouldnt have put it in her obit. Many people have a hand writing the obit before they go.
So I guess being the first woman in space isn’t true. She was actually a man with a vagina!
WHAT is a left-dresser?
