In the commentary, they say that Joss had Jewel gain about 15 or 20 pounds for the role, but she wasn't able to gain weight for her role in Serenity. I thought she looked rather drawn in that. But I still LOVE Kaylee, and found myself getting angry with Mal when he was mean to her in "Shindig."
