Earlier this month a SWAT team burst into the home of Jose Guereña. Awaken by his wifes screams that armed men were breaking into the house, Guereña grabbed his rifle to defend his family. The SWAT team shot him 60 times. As Guereña lay bleeding, they blocked paramedics from tending to his wounds. An hour later he died.
Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik blamed the baleful influence of right wing talk radio for the death. If it werent for the repeated assertions by talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh that people have a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms this tragedy would never have occurred, Dupnik argued. When people other than law enforcement agents are armed these kinds of mishaps are inevitable.
Though Guereña never fired his weapon, in fact the safety was still on when he was shot by multiple sheriffs deputies, Dupnik insisted that the killing was warranted. Guereña lived in a bad neighborhood, Dupnik claimed. That alone creates a presumption of guilt. A guy with a gun in a bad neighborhood is a threat. My men had every right to take him down.
The fact that Guereña was a Marine who had served two tours in Iraq was used to bolster Dupniks case. Look, a Marine with a weapon represented a severe danger to my men, Dupnik said. If they hadnt fired first he probably wouldve killed them all. It was only quick thinking that saved the day.
As for blocking the paramedics, Dupnik maintained that the hours delay was necessitated by the need for a search of the premises to ensure that there were no other gunmen, guns, or drugs to be dealt with. If that means a suspect has to bleed while we do it, so be it.
No other gunmen, guns, or contraband of any sort were found in the home. Guereñas wife and two children were in the house during the raid. Fortunately, the SWAT team refrained from shooting them.

But! But! Never Sheriff Clarence Dupnik's fault! He's a dimocrat you know. Dimocrats are good people! /sarcasm
I caught ya on the first sentence on this one. Ha.
I know - it’s because Sarah Palin just bought a home in Arizona!
John, even two years ago this would have been sufficiently over the top to push the edges of satire.
Today, several Freepers clearly aren’t catching that it is satire. These are smart people, and they believe this is wholly plausible.
That right there tell us what kind of a failed police state aka thugocracy we now live in...
"If it werent for the repeated assertions by talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh that people have a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms this tragedy would never have occurred, Dupnik argued. When people other than law enforcement agents are armed these kinds of mishaps are inevitable."
This has to be a satire! If not, why is Arizona sitting on their hands and keeping this sheriff in office? Whoever commanded that SWAT team should be fired, and the rest of the team should be taken off the job without pay until it is determined they are safe to work again.
We are celebrating a national holiday Monday to honor those who died so that our citizens can have rights, such as the right to keep and bear arms. Now we have an American veteran who has died on our soil because of that right. And the people of Pima County, Arizona have a sheriff who is spitting on that right.
Sheriff Dumbshit and his murderous band of SWAT wannabes. It was
the leftist Dumbshit who is responsible. Nothing on any broadcast
radio authorized his employees to murder that man. Dumbshit and his
lackeys should be arrested and tried for first degree murder.
Dumbshit repeated failed to deal with Loughner. Loughner’s mommy
works for the county. Apparently that was sufficient reason for Dumbshit
to not pursue complaints from school officials about his psychotic
behavior in college classrooms. Giffords shoule sue him for negligence.
Ditto for all the survivors of Loughner’s shooting spree.
Maybe, or maybe there is more to the story than the reactionary forces around here would care to accept. How did his wife know that armed men were invading the house if they were both in the bedroom?
Oh, DUDE!
This one is damn near scary!
Tell me this is satire . . .
Crazy old bast*rd shouldn’t be anywhere near a gun himself.
Pima County Sheriff's Department issued a statement
"The investigation that lead to the service of the search warrants on May 5 is a complicated one involving multiple people suspected of very serious crimes. Sometimes, law enforcement agencies must choose between the desire of the public to quickly know details, and the very real threat to innocent lives if those details are released prematurely. Sheriff Dupnik has made it a departmental policy to be open and forthcoming with information released to the news media. When the decision is made to withhold information, as it has been in this case, there is a legitimate reason for that decision. The day the search warrant was served, we reported to the media that Mr. Guarena fired at SWAT officers. This is what was understood at that time. After a more detailed investigation, we learned that he pointed his assault rifle at SWAT officers, however, the safety was on and he could not fire. This is a clear example of erroneous information being provided without careful investigation. Rather than risking the release of further information, it is imperative that we complete all aspects of this investigation. Complicating matters is the fact that multiple agencies were involved in this incident..."
Blah, blah, blah... In other words we don't have any friggin' idea what we are doing and so we will stall as long as possible and hope people forget about this major screw up that led to the death on an innocent man.
Too early for jokes.
Indiana just past a bill that lets police enter your house without any warning for any or no reason. Foresee a hike in police uniforms.
Satire isn’t a joke. It’s a valuable weapon to expose and fight the police state and thugocracy. To be effective to that end, it must be contemporaneous.
And it is effective, which is why most thugocracies ban it in the name of “fairness” or like life. See “Net Neutrality.”
Wasn’t that a judge’s ruling?
Look, a Marine with a weapon represented a severe danger to my men, Dupnik said. If they hadnt fired first he probably wouldve killed them all. It was only quick thinking that saved the day.
Heh heh, you gotta admit, this is probably closer to truth than fiction John.
A democRAT judge, I believe.
Well done John, but what a tough one to satarize. SHEESH!
Hopelessly
