Wow, this is interesting. A focus group of SC Republican primary voters came in with only 1 supporting Cain, and left with the majority supporting Cain.
What is interesting is WHY they changed their vote. Also interesting is their feelings about the other potential candidates not showing up.
I didn’t mean to come off as officious, just my opinion, many share it, you don’t, but let’s not fight.
That guy spent his entire time on stage twitching and nervous. His answers were ... passable for New Mexico, but Obama would tear through him like a bear mauling a chubby boy scout.
He had all the grace and bearing of a simple, earnest man who had no idea he was not qualified to be there, surrounded by people too polite to point out he was way out of his league.
I think it’s time we stop listening to what people are telling us we are hearing and start thinking for ourselves. Perphaps Wallace is trying to give Cain a little helpful advice...perhaps Wallace is tyring to shill for establishment-types (as Fox seems to be wont to do of late)...
My take on the debate was:
Paul—not a serious candidate
Santorum—sounded good...but too “politiciany”
Pawlenty—see Santorumj
Johnson—no...No...NO!!!!
Cain—sounded sincere, needs polish, LOVE HIS OUTSIDER STATUS
Cain was terrific last night I’m amazed how many people don’t know him- I watch Cavuto regularly snad have seen Neil interview him many times over the years.
So far- he’s my favorite of our possibilities.
It really would be just what America needs West is beyond brilliant all around and excels in foreign policy national security. Cain would tie into the economy and job creation in a non nonsense we the people; get big gov out-way. With these two we would come the closest to cleaning up DC.
The GOP will be duly shocked when they find out America does not want scripted Pawlenty,Santorum,Huck,Newt,Romney.
Last night's potential candidates were the Republican Party B Team, maybe even the C team......all with zero to none chance of winning even a cupie doll.....including one of my favs, Herman Cain.
Obama has ruined the chance of any blacks winning the presidency for the foreseable future. Some freepers have been pushing a West/Cain ticket, two great men, but a ticket that would never get off the ground...sad but true.

There's too much "You scratch my back, then I'll scratch yours. We'll call it bipartisanship" going on in Washington. (While the politicians get richer and more powerful, the tax payers get poorer and more enslaved.)

I prefer the candidate who is honest and says, I would talk to the people that KNOW what is going on - the military leaders and boots on the ground.
That is the right answer. Too many politicians act like they have a plan when in fact they have no clue what is really going on. Do people really want another candidate who says what people want to hear or who tells the truth?
But generally Herman Cain believes:
Herman believes in “peace through strength.”
NO to Sharia law, and as a result, no Muslims in his cabinet unless they denounce Sharia law
A strong military – Defense spending should be used more effectively, but never cut below 4% of GDP.
In an interview with the Daily Caller: As for what’s going on in the Middle East right now, Cain said the president has to listen to military experts – adding that the situation in Iraq is stable, but Afghanistan is “still a mess” because of internal conflicts within the Afghan government.
“Politics have had too big a part to play in how we handled working in Afghanistan. General [David] Petraeus and the other generals should decide on the rules of engagement, not politicians and that has been part of the problem,” Cain said. “He [President Obama] is not qualified to write a military strategy. That’s not leadership. Listen to the military experts. That’s my approach to handling war and international conflict.”
In Iran, Cain supports pushing a diplomatic approach for nuclear disarmament, but said the United States should be weary of the Iranian regime. Cain said the U.S. and the UN should continue with strict sanctions and follow through on them, but should be ready to react in the case Iran does anything out of line.
“I don’t have enough confidential inside information to know how close they [Iran] are to building a nuclear weapon and, from the information [President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad has put out there in the press, I don’t think they’re that close,” Cain said. “Where they are a threat is in Israel, the fact that they have flat-out threatened to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.”
Cain said any threat to Israel should be taken seriously and considered as a threat to the United States.
“Israel is an ally and friend of the United States of America,” Cain said. “I whole-heartedly believe in helping Israel defend itself, whatever that takes. I can’t tell you what that would take because I’m not privy to all the things that it would take. Secondly, if they’re going to make such a threat to Israel, what country is going to be next? Probably the United States of America.”

In an interview with American Thinker: Herman Cain’s approach to foreign policy is, “We will be friends with our friends and evaluate who our enemies are and watch our enemies.” Regarding foreign aid, “I don’t believe in providing financial support to those who really are not our friends.” In dealing with myriad conflicts around the world Cain stated he would use the approach that he has in business, “Listen to the experts. That’s what leaders do, they know how to listen to the experts and then make an informed decision about critical issues.” He indicated he would, “Talk to the people who know the most about the subject: the military generals, the field generals, the joint chiefs of staff.” Referring to the war in Afghanistan for example, he said he would first define what winning is, then determine if winning was possible, then based upon that input, strategize as to what the United States should do.
The fight against Islamic Fascism is global. Fight it wherever it is a threat to the United States of America. Let our intelligence agencies do their jobs.
He no longer an “unknown”.
It is easy to know who he is, read his books, read his commentaries, listen to his interviews, podcasts of his shows. There is a record of where Herman stands on every issue going back a long, long time.
We have people who know him even back in the days of Burger King and Godfather’s who have volunteered in his campaign and they testify that this is who he is. I have followed him since 2004 and he is the most consistent public conservative I have ever followed, hands down. And the most articulate.
Pawlenty is the second coming of John McCain, and was seriously considered instead of Palin for the VP spot on that ticket. McCain wanted him, but realized that without Palin motivating the base that his crushing defeat would have been worse than it was.
He’s a RINO that big government Republican beltway insiders can love.
You make good points about Cain. These child like questions of “what would you do about” misses the point. Circumstances are what they are at the time, and it is much more important to know what a person stands for and how solidly they stand for it.
Herman Cain’s stances are solid and can be documented. He would be a Reagan, not an Obama, and you can apply that to any future situation.
Herman Cain is impressive.
