At Big Journalism, Kristinn Taylor and Andrea Shea King comment on the "Palin Pledge" news blackout being organized at DNC house organ The Washington Post by leftist writer Dana Milbank:
Milbanks call for a Palin boycott is reminiscent of behind the scenes coordination by members of Journolist. In this case however, Milbank and The Post are making viral a campaign that has been wished for by others in the media who hate Palin and do not want to see her become president of the United States. Our take: Is the hysterical left getting sick of its own smear campaign against Gov. Palin? Since hate poisons the soul, are these vile slanderers and libelers feeling the toxic effects of their own venom? Are they heeding the advice of Peter of the New Testament?:The Posts campaign against Palin even has a logo...
[...]
Milbanks editor Marisa Katz... said the anti-Palin Twitter campaign was not an endorsement by The Post. However, the campaign bears no disclaimer and The Post provides a direct link and anti-Palin message for forwarding via Twitter.
Katz said the Twitter campaign is part of The Posts efforts to engage its readers in two-way communication.
Without a disclaimer though, the effort has the appearance of an anti-Palin campaign organized by The Washington Post.

"Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind." - 1 Peter 2:1Sadly, that's not very likely. The first Book of Peter is a letter to other believers who were suffering persecution throughout the ancient Roman empire from one who knew suffering and persecution first hand. Peter had been beaten and imprisoned for preaching the Word of God, and his life had been threatened. Yet he was able to endure this torment without becoming bitter or losing hope in Jesus and faith in God. Peter's message to the early Christians was that they, too, could endure persecution without losing their souls if they refused to become like their tormentors. The only way to do this, Peter told them, was to follow their Savior's example.
No, what the leftists are doing here is simply trying to cover their backsides. A few on the left having been warning their comrades for quite some time now that these venal attacks on Sarah Palin were going to backfire, and some of their scribes are finally starting to get the message. Their little moratorium is just a test. They realize that although they have thrown their worst against her, she's still standing. Sure, she's down in their bogus polls, but she's far from being taken out. They really believed that they had a magic bullet made in Tuscon that would finally destroy her this time, but she's still standing.
So now they're going to try a little experiment. They're going to dial back the hate for a month, conveniently, the shortest month of the year. They're going to try to see if she will go away if they stop talking about her, as some of their number have predicted will be the result. They don't have much hope that it will work, however, so the test will only last for four weeks and two days. After that, they will abandon Plan B and go back into 24/7 attack mode. Also, there are a considerable number of them who won't turn off the spigot marked "hate," even for just a month, because they can't help themselves. They are so addicted to "the politics of personal destruction" that they can't stop themselves from sticking the needle in their arms for another dose of hate-smack. Like some hapless character in one of their Hollyweird propaganda films -- call this one "Brokeback Boycott" -- they just can't quit her.
Update: A deliciously ironic possiblilty comes to mind:
What if sometime during the media left's boycott, Gov. Palin were to announce the formation of an exploratory committee to consider a presidential candidacy? Not an announcement that she would actually run, mind you, just the formation of the committee.
"Exploratory, draft or 'testing the waters' committees are formed solely for the purpose of determining the feasibility of an individuals candidacy for office. The activities of exploratory committees may include polling, travel, and telephone calls to determine whether the individual should become a candidate."These committees are common practice as a preliminary step before an actual presidential campaign is announced. It is, however, major news when one of them is formed, and these clowns would have to break their "boycott pledge" circus act to report it.
Heh, heh, heh...

I can't wait to see the ABC headline: Obama Announces Presidential Run Against...... Nobody.
Or the MSNBC Poll:
Who do you want to see for President?
A) Barack Obama.
Press here to vote!
Will never work.
The looney left lives off of their hate.
They will not be able to stop blasting Palin on a daily basis.
The chumps at the WaPo know they won’t be able to go 28 days without trashing and smearing the Palin family. Yeah, they picked the month with the fewest days but I still don’t believe that they can pull it off.
Heads will be exploding in newsrooms around the country.
Time for some articles on the boycott of Palin - which never mention Palin, but talk no-stop about her.
My opinion of Palin for president has changed. I have always liked her, but did not see her as presidential material.
The leftists have helped change my mind. Anyone that bothers them that much, must be good for the country.
Here are the reasons I will support her for president;
1. Even though she may not be another Ronald Regan, she’s a world better than Obama or any other progressive.
2. She stands far above any of the current crop of male republican potential contenders.
3. At least she espouses conservative principals and is not afraid to express them.
4. I think she has the good sense to surround herself with good people and listen to their advice.
5. She’s not afraid to defend herself. She doesn’t let the media cow her.
6. She has been more fully vetted now than other presidential candidate in history.
7. She has been smeared from every angle & so far it hasn’t stuck.
8. Since the pundits say Obama is a sure thing, how are we harmed by running her?
Whatever you do, DON’T THINK ABOUT A PINK ELEPHANT.
Indeed, because interestingly, some of her most virulent critics in the Republican party DO think that Obama is a sure thing for 2012! If they truly don't want her to win, why NOT put her up against the 'sure thing'? They don't want to do that because with her campaign, she would spread far and wide the notion of less government, and those who derive their power and income from 'more government' wouldn't like that.
I think all the liberals will try this so I’m upping my posts on Facebook and going over tot he Compost comments section and talking about Palin more than usual....just to get the Leftist’s goat.
Good idea. :)
They knew it the first time they saw her.
It's why they go insane every time they think of her.
Dinosaur death watch.
Not just the leftists. Whenever I hear one of the GOP political tools decry her, I become more certain that will support her for president.
She terrifies all of the entrenched political machinery. That speaks volumes about what our current system is, and what she, as a true outsider, could do.
I love sticking it to the liberals as much as the next person, but I think she should do nothing different until after February. The silent treatment always drives bratty kids crazy! She doesn’t do anything, they can’t say anything, mean while the base uses Feb. to build the swell. Quiet advancement. It is the base that should bait the media with twitter and comments sections with questions about their PDS therapy.
