Glenn Beck: The New LDS Apologist?
Art Vanick ^

Posted on 10/04/2010 1:11:50 PM PDT by Amerisrael

"This is weird. Glenn Beck, who became a Mormon a few years back, is now using his program to promote Mormon archaeology. If you click on these links you can view it. He also has a conspiracy theory about how science, government, commerce, and religion, not in the least, the Smithsonian Institute, purposefully altered history. My good friend Kurt Van Gorden sent me the links below, as well as the descriptions of what he is saying in the videos.

In the first video, about half way through, I about fell out of my chair when Beck referenced Adair’s History of the American Indians ( imagine! ) as proof of similarity between Native American ceremonies and Israelites. He forgot to mention that it predates the BOM by several decades (It was written arounde 1765!). He then ties the Egyptian pyramid math to the Indian mounds (only FARMS and the Maxwell Institute have ventured in this arena, which instantly identified his sources for me). Then in the second video, he uses the fraudulent Newark Stone and the fraudulent Bat Creek stone Hebrew inscriptions as proof of Hebrew among the Indians."

>>We’re just pointing out who is TOOTING the HORN! <<

LOL It just pains me to watch the conservative side cannibalize each other. When we desperately need to be a cohesive force to stop the destruction of the country and someone like Beck is doing the great job he is it’s pathetic that those who want to see a return to sound principals try to destroy the ones who are helping.

“People like you with your hatred “

Disagreement and hate are two different things.

Please point out some actual hate speech to us...
otherwise, your claim has no credibility other than
he said something you didn’t like...

‘Religious freedom’ also includes the right to advocate your own beliefs and to point out counterfeits. Those who have been fingered can also respond freely.

It is a type of pattern of these proMormonism posters, on this thread.

Not only on THIS thread...it's SOP from 1830 on down!

For all your claims that islam is the enemy, there is a lean by mormonism towards islam.

Saul was on a path directly opposed to Christ, who would have thought he would be knocked off his horse and become Paul....God is not limited as to who he takes from one path to another...

You wrote: What makes you think that they will; being on the 'paths' they are traveling.

Like all of you, we each have our own opinions. Mine differ from most on this thread, and thats OK to me..

I have tried not to attack any one person, just voice my opinion...

Oh poppycock CB....Mormons know where they stand in the Christian community as far as their belief system goes...they also know what's at stake in these elections. Mormons won't be driven away from this election by anything stated on these threads. They may be mislead by Mormonism but they are certainly understand these elections. They also know off the religious boards they have no problem relating and exchanging political views. Even with those who may oppose them here. They are not that thin skinned or they wouldn't keep coming back.

“Both prophets claim of having angel visitations, and of receiving divine revelation to restore pure religion to the earth again. Mohammed was told that both Jews and Christians had long since corrupted their scriptures and religion. In like manner, Joseph Smith was told that all of Christianity had become corrupt, and that consequently the Bible itself was no longer reliable. In both cases, this corruption required a complete restoration of both scripture and religion.”

Well done.

When we go back and read the Genesis account of Adam and Eve, we find that after the Lord commanded them not to eat of the tree of knowledge, or else they would surely die,—

the next thing that happens is that Satan comes to attack and undermine the credibility of what God has said. His Word.

That remains his tactic today. In Genesis the devil took the form of a serpent. Sometimes he is also transformed as an “angel of light”[2nd Cor. 11:14]

It is possible that both Joeseph Smith and Mohammed had an encounter with an “angel of light” [Satan]. And were consequently so decieved.

Especially in light of the fact that Smith was involved in the occult. He was what was refered to as a “Glass looker”.

>> They are not that thin skinned or they wouldn’t keep coming back.<<

A person can read the posts on FR without ever registering or posting. We have no idea how many are discouraged from staying or becoming a part of the dialogue. I still contend that it is doing the conservative cause a disservice by alienating anyone who would otherwise “get involved”.

LOL!! White man?

I live on a Rez, MF.

That said, you don't understand the Scripture about judging...That is totally obvious.....You can continue to show your lack of understanding...but I would suggest that you quit digging that hole.

White man....!?!? Good one, MF.

Hi MHG. If you all thought I was preaching, I was not. Just voicing an possible alternate opinion. I have never been a preacher and do not intend to start at my age...Not given that gift by God...

Many of you seem sincere in your opposition to Beck, maybe you feel its a calling, but I have a different opinion. I believe that you believe your doing good... I cannot say more than that.

The way I read God's response is a reproach to the prophet who believed he knew it all, but God remined him, he was not the all knowing person he though he was....If I remember correctly God told him he had 7000 that the prophet didn't know about... to be it meant that even those that talk to God face to face should be careful in their judgements....Only God knows who is His...

When push comes to shove you can bet in this election all conservatives will do what is necessary to boot out those who need booting...and that includes Mormons and those of any other belief system as well as those without.

Are you forgetting politics is fluid during the primary season? No one here is attacking Beck for his good work...but they are wise to be alert as he brings Mormon teachings into politics....always has been a bad outcome when these two are mixed in full view of the political audiances. Beck is risking that...and he knows he is.

They may become SO 'discouraged' at what they read here, that they'll go over to DU and lurk there!

I think I understand your question...the Torah is in Hebrew and the usage is different from what is translated to your "Old Testament", which is based on Greek. "Elohim", as you are referencing, is used a number of times as what is known as "majestic plural." It denotes "greatness", not "more than one"...note in Genesis the verbs used after Elohim are singular.

This is a common argument made by Christians to retrofit Jesus into the creation story. If one started with the Torah, there is no doubt that such an argument is false...magritte
