After Race Called, Rove Continues To Rip O'Donnell
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

"This is probably one of the few times we're going to disagree here." -- Sean Hannity to Karl Rove regarding Christine O'Donnell.

I'll say. Even after Fox News called the Delaware GOP senatorial primary for Christine O'Donnell tonight, Karl Rove continued to rip the winner, questioning everything from O'Donnell's "rectitude" to her "character." Concluded the pessimistic Rove: "this is not a race we're going to be able to win."

Sean defended O'Donnell staunchly, but was met with a litany of Roveian criticism of Christine, including these comments:

I’ve normally got a lot of respect for Rove and maybe he’s right that O’Donnell isn’t as “electable” as her primary opponent....BUT, even if that’s true, what happened to the idea of “party unity?”

Every time a RINO wins a primary, conservatives are told to step in line and get behind the RINO out of a sense of party loyalty. But as soon as a conservative wins a primary fair and square, the republican elite takes its ball and goes home, runs and independent or, as in the case of Dede Scozzafava, even goes so far as to endorse the democrat.

Let’s see the RINOs and elitists practice what they preach for once.

A simple “O’Donnell is unelectable” would have gotten his message across without him looking like a sore loser

I beg to differ. Anything except a congratulations and stating he would stand behind her now that the people have nominated her makes him look like the a**hole he really is.

To Rove:

Yes he’s a noob by violating one of Reagan’s commandments.

Dana Perino was equally dismissive tonight. Very disappointing. These guys have to get out of the Beltway more often.

More and more of our “beloved leaders” are showing their true colors. Buh bye, Rover boy. I’ll never trust you again.

Next time you see "The Wizard of Oz" take another look at the cherubic, roly-poly little man pulling the levers after Dorothy and her Tea Partiers, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow and Toto, yank the curtain away....exposing him for the craven, bitter, scared manipulator and charlatan he is.

The curtain crumbled around Rove last night.....as well as Perino, Krauthammer, the NRSC and other smug beltway insiders.

As Dorothy said, "Karl, we conservatives aren't in Oz anymore.....we're home in Kansas, the real world. Take a hike!"

A one-time O’Donnell-focused Ping.

Isn’t it interesting how we are supposed to kiss McCain’s ring, but not the ring of O’Donnel?

Oh, but we must say nothing ill of McCain. His victory is important. The phony Buckley Rule, don’t you know?

Rove acted like an idiot.

The GOP has no other choice but to throw money towards Christine.

If they don’t screw them we will win anyway.

The progressives and the MSM are having a hay day over this so called SPLIT. The GOP has best wake up and ditch their RINO’s.

I’m not giving up on Rove specifically myself. I mean, this is just one quick reaction to one senate race. But what bothers me is the last-second baggage unloaded against O’Donnell. Why didn’t the vetting process happen earlier? And how solid are those accusations?

Get all that are RINOS out and there is no divide.

This is all that is happening and it is freaking out the mighty GOP.

Too bad so sad they will get over it or be non existant as a political party.

Bill Clinton said it best on Drudge but he thinks it is a bad thing.

CONSERVATIVE basic AMERICA founding fathers. It is no longer the dems demonizing “the so called far right’ about abortion anymore. (social politics) This culture warfare has turned into class, race, warfare with Obama as leader and we will get America back.No more spending millions on African genital cleaning and field mice.

NO MORE PORK,NO MORE U.N. and the GOP had best wake they’re butts up and realize all of government will be taking a huge paycut or looking for another job.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. I have questions about the vetting process too-but it seems the TP are not concerned about their candidate’s background-—and I don’t believe it’s up to Republican leaders (elitists!) to do it.

Had Rove discussed the candidate’s character weeks ago, what would the reaction be? Or any GOP leadership? I think Rove brought up the questions the candidate will have to be prepared to answer (now).

If TP want to take over the GOP, they’ve got to be willing to take the knocks that go with it, and stop feigning surprise that GOP won’t go down without a fight.

If Rove had done some vetting weeks before this, and gone privately (or even publicly) about the supposed 'issues', that is a prudent strategist.

That is not what we saw last night. That was a RINO having a tantrum. As I put it to you yesterday:

How about at least this little crumb, from the crumbling Rove?

How about he acknowledges the vibrancy of the Tea Party and offers one little word of congratulation to the new candidate, before trashing her publicly?

Or better yet, how about not trashing her publicly and instead working WITH the nominee to HELP her overcome these 'issues'?

Rove has outted himself as a spoiled establishment RINO. He should have, instead, worked to HELP the nominee.

Additionally, O'Donnell disputes (stridently) all of Rove's assertions.

“[O’Donnell doesn’t] evince the characteristics of rectitude and truthfulness and sincerity and character that voters are looking for.”

What, Karl? You mean like McCain, Graham, and all the other RINOs in DC. Shut your yapper, Karl. After the complete destruction of the Republican party that you were (and the other DC GOP insiders who think like you) responsible for, excuse me if I take what you say with a grain of salt.

These GOP establishment types just don’t get it, do they? We are done with them. We do not seek their approval, and if they won’t support OUR candidates, we’ll just go around them. They need us more than we need them.

I’m gonna send O’Donnell a check in your honor, Rove.

[Dana Perino drives me nuts with her incessant motor-mouth chirping. It was Hannity overtalking her as she was overtalking Stuart Varney who was the only one I really wanted to hear.
Dana, Rove, Beckel, Juan, Geraldo, Colmes and the commie perfesser Mark Lamont Hill....all have been grating on my nerves for a long time now. I’ve discovered that when they’re blathering away on the screen I can get a few things done around the house.

When McCain is on Hannity, I boycott the whole show.

Rove was a disgrace tonight....and boring as hell as usual.]

Loved your post!
I second it!

If ROVE hasn’t been collecting an annual briefcase full of cash from the DNC at least these past 5 years, shame on him.
