Hearing a lot lately about how the Catholic Church is supporting liberal causes. Are these real or just another attack on the Catholics?

First Church of Christ Congregational was the main target. The Catholic church and others have backed off.

Historically Catholics have supported liberal fiscal policy and have been very pro union.

Liberation theology, of which Jeremiah Wright's black liberation theology is an offshoot, is historically Catholic, primarily in Central America.

That's what I was hoping to find out. I think it's just another attack, but maybe some of the folks I'm pinging can tell us more.

They are real. I walked out the other day. The priest said we should support the Health care for illegal immigrants. No one cares if they take away care for Seniors and the people deemed a burden on society.

He never mentioned not to support the bill if it supported abortion. Everyone knows it will be back in when the Senate finishes with the bill.

I'm beginning to see how Hitler was able to take over Germany. We need to protest the Church's stand on social justice. I'm beginning to think we should protest the bishops. We need our voices heard.

There were a few other Churches mentioned. I didn't hear the whole exchange. I think he said the Catholic Church backed down, but I was shocked that they wanted to censure talk radio in the first place.

Anyone hear the whole exchange?

Here is what the Liberation Theology collectivist statists are missing, whether they be in the RCC or UCC, or any other "Christian" organization.

NOT grudgingly OR of necessity.

That means WITHOUT COMPULSION.

"Liberation Theology" types want to take money from "the rich" by threat of force and give it to "the poor".

This is extortion and robbery.

God loves a CHEERFUL GIVER; someone who gives out of the goodness of his heart.

Too many Catholics, unfortunately, have forgotten this 1878 encyclical on Socialism, which is very much still in force:

http://www.ewtn.com/library/ENCYC/L13APOST.HTM

Some excerpts:

“Lured, in fine, by the greed of present goods, which is “the root of all evils which some coveting have erred from the faith,” they assail the right of property sanctioned by natural law; and by a scheme of horrible wickedness, while they seem desirous of caring for the needs and satisfying the desires of all men, they strive to seize and hold in common whatever has been acquired either by title of lawful inheritance, or by labor of brain and hands, or by thrift in one’s mode of life. “

“For, indeed, although the socialists, stealing the very Gospel itself with a view to deceive more easily the unwary, have been accustomed to distort it so as to suit their own purposes, nevertheless so great is the difference between their depraved teachings and the most pure doctrine of Christ that none greater could exist: “for what participation hath justice with injustice or what fellowship hath light with darkness?”7 Their habit, as we have intimated, is always to maintain that nature has made all men equal, and that, therefore, neither honor nor respect is due to majesty, nor obedience to laws, unless, perhaps, to those sanctioned by their own good pleasure. But, on the contrary, in accordance with the teachings of the Gospel, the equality of men consists in this: that all, having inherited the same nature, are called to the same most high dignity of the sons of God, and that, as one and the same end is set before all, each one is to be judged by the same law and will receive punishment or reward according to his deserts.”

“For, while the socialists would destroy the “right” of property, alleging it to be a human invention altogether opposed to the inborn equality of man, and, claiming a community of goods, argue that poverty should not be peaceably endured, and that the property and privileges of the rich may be rightly invaded, the Church, with much greater wisdom and good sense, recognizes the inequality among men, who are born with different powers of body and mind, inequality in actual possession, also, and holds that the right of property and of ownership, which springs from nature itself, must not be touched and stands inviolate.”

This is just another attack on Catholics. The “church” in question is the VERY LIBERAL United Church of Christ; Catholic Church authorities merely asked to see the document, because the Church is fearing prosecution under hate speech laws because of its opposition to gay marriage.

As a Catholic I am unaware of this so I have to conclude that once again it is a few liberals who have decided to call themselves “the Church”?
