Sarah Palin: Statement on the Current Health Care Debate
facebook ^ | Aug. 7, 2009 | Sarah Palin

Posted on 08/07/2009 1:45:04 PM PDT by Al B.

As more Americans delve into the disturbing details of the nationalized health care plan that the current administration is rushing through Congress, our collective jaw is dropping, and we’re saying not just no, but hell no!

The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

Health care by definition involves life and death decisions. Human rights and human dignity must be at the center of any health care discussion.

Rep. Michele Bachmann highlighted the Orwellian thinking of the president’s health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of the White House chief of staff, in a floor speech to the House of Representatives. I commend her for being a voice for the most precious members of our society, our children and our seniors.

We must step up and engage in this most crucial debate. Nationalizing our health care system is a point of no return for government interference in the lives of its citizens. If we go down this path, there will be no turning back. Ronald Reagan once wrote, “Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth.” Let’s stop and think and make our voices heard before it’s too late.

All we got here is a whine. Nicely written, but a whine nonetheless.

Pretty much like your comment.

Sowell is a brillian Conservative thinker in his own right. I doubt that his color is of any relevance to Palin quoting him.

I agree that he is a good man. However, she does cover her back by choosing to quote him. The flak will be very heavy anyway; "Obama's "death panels"". WOW! That is going to sting!!!

So I take it you find Ms. Palin's little missive to be a "leader-like" statement?

My standards are a lot higher than that. So should yours be.

Sarah Palin has the basic understanding on Health Care and
the key issues that face us.

Just think, Sarah could have been Vice President right now
if those who voted third party or sat at home would have voted as adults rather than spoiled chldren

She picks her words VERY carefully. LOVE how she quotes Reagan(She looks up to him) “Death Panel” that is a term I haven’t heard before, that one is GONNA STING. We gotta make this go viral, I want everyone to see what Sarah had to say. As a private citizen, she isn’t mincing words, she calls what they are doing as “Downright evil”

This is stupid, it assumes that we are dealing with a fixed resource (something that is almost never true). As with anything which is created by human initiative, increased demand (expressed through money) will result in increased supply (through increased effort to access that money).

In any free society, people will pay for what they themselves value, and it's nobody else's business how much they choose to buy.

The stupidest thing about this is that there is actually an inverse effect. The more demand exists for a creative product or service, the more that the creation and delivery of the product or service will become efficient. In other words, it will become cheaper (like LCD TVs), and more people will be able to afford it.

People who advocate this kind of rationing are purely evil. They make critical resources less available to everyone.

Sarah gave credit to President Reagan for the quote,“Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth.”

We need to be careful to do the same if we use it in quoting Sarah.

They already called us Nazis, what else can they do? March to the sound of the guns....

It they keep it up much longer they won't have to march ot the sound of the guns -- they'll be hearing the sound of the guns coming for them.
