Vanity: Flying Flag Upside Down? Ribbons? Tea Bags?

I am so grieved by the travesty that occurred this evening in Washington. I am saddenned and extremely concerned for the future of our country and am looking for a way to express it.

Whatever happened to the activism of the 80s?! I remember seeing news coverage of groups of people picketing with "throw the bums out" signs, sending tea bags to Washington, the term limits and divided government concepts being debated on talking-heads shows.

Are any organizations leading the charge here? I know there are Freeps in Washington, but there has to be something we here in fly-over country can do--and I am sick of calling dem staffers who could care less about my views.

I came up with several ideas---flying flag upside down, sending tea bags to Washington, some sort of ribbon or bumper sticker campaign

--somehow conservatives need to start building momentum to mitigate this disaster. Any ideas/thots

For me, I stopped flying my Stars & Stripes on the front of my house on 20 January. I replaced our flag with the Lone Star Flag for daily display. Only on the following holidays shall I display our Old Glory....Memorial Day, Independence Day, Flag Day, the Marine Corps Birthday (I’m a Marine) and Veteran’s Day.

When we’ve done protests, one of the challenges was getting the media to cover it. At this point they would ignore us if millions of us showed up.

What we can do is go after the media...nothing will help until that is confronted. We need to be in every city with a network affiliate protesting their lack of or twisted coverage. They’ll notice then!

I have to find vinyl stickers like that for my bike.

As soon as I receive my flag I am going to start protesting in earnest.

I've choosen to fly the flag from my special collapsible flagpole I made for the Gathering of Eagles event a few years back.

and will stand at one of the busiest intersections I can find with appropriate signage as well.

Daily until we get some relief or people are willing to stand with me or in my place repeating the same message to congress in numbers that will not be ignored.

There are those here that are frankly worried about the depth of our activism or the tone such revolutionary images may take us, to them I say we can wait for your support, but we cannot wait for something to happen.

I know those of you that have concerns, will join us once we start to gain strength, and you are wise to hold back for now, we will need even more support later, and fresh support will always be welcomed, we'll need it to succeed.

I seem to recall them dealing with some issues in past—Drilling? Kerry? Anyone recall? Have experience w/them? Freedoms first has recently received permission to hold our protest in Washington DC. Our protest will now be held at the lincoln Memorial Reflections Pool in front of the Lincoln memorial ,on a date that will be released on feb 12 2009.

We find this very interesting because just two weeks earlier Washington told us we could no protest in DC for at least a year and a half . But the day the spendulus bill passes we get a call from Washington inviting us with a choice of dates and locations. Folks we take this as a sign that our country if starting to realise the mistake they have made with putting Obama in office.

We will have live speakers and other entertainment for you.

WE would like to see 1 million supporters attend this protest. It is time to take our country back and make our voices heard.

Why are we protesting ?

1. To get the attention of the mainstream media.

2. To demand That Obama Provide proof that he is eligible to be president.

3. To demand that Congress and the Supreme court uphold our constitution.

4. To inform the public on the issue of Obama’s ineligibility to be president of the USA.

5. To demand that they can not take our constitutional rights away.

6. To say no to abortions.

I think the index card idea is great...people could download image from (wherever) of eye glasses, tea bag, or the “no money sign—(money with red circle/slash)” or something else, and just start sending em in in mass. It is a start. Grassfire petition is possibly a start. I just want my voice heard because it obviously wasn’t. Many feel same way.

When enough of us say we have had enough, that's when it is official.

I think some of us are ready we just need a banner to march behind and I cannot think a more storied or honored banner short of our own Star Spangled Banner to march behind, save for The Marine Corps Flag and not all of us are Marines, but we can all say with one voice "Do Not Tread on Me!"

I’ve been following Rassmussen’s daily Presidential approval polls, he is down 8 from last Saturday. He was down lower than this on Tuesday and then rebounded only to drop like a rock again yesterday and today.
