Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee enjoys the first victory on Super Tuesday for the Republicans as he takes all 18 delegates in the state of West Virginia, winning 52% of the vote, although rumors abound regarding the McCain campaign's possible instruction to their delegates to switch to his side.
Mitt Romney finished second with 47% of the vote, followed by McCain at 1%.
Rumors are circulating that the McCain campaign instructed their delegates to defect over to Mike Huckabee's side as to avoid a Romney victory. Nationally, McCain is significantly ahead of Huckabee and can afford giving the state's 18 delegates to Huckabee, but certainly not to Romney, who was originally in the lead when polling began in West Virginia by a wide margin and trails McCain nationally by only 17 delegates.

Yes, but this is slightly different. Huck is being deliberately propped up by someone to remain in the race. He knows full well he has no chance but he's allowing them to use him. He's been paid off.
At this point, I have more respect for the way things are going in the RAT primary. They're legitimate candidates. Huck is not a legitimate candidate. He can't win anything without colluding with McCain

Huckabee and McCain are tag teaming Romney. They've reached some sort of bargain, evidently [ my guess: Secretary of the Interior] which is corrupt because it isn't public.

What do people think is supposed to happen when the rules require a majority winner? Those supporting candidates that are out of it or can’t win or supposed to go home and not vote. Politics is a game of collusion amongst the particiipants, witness the congress, etc.
The rules were in place the votes were taken, alliances made and a winner was named....... Kinda how it is supposed to work.

Welll you just plain thought flat out wrong. Long term McCain gives NOTHING to anybody without usury attached... might have gone well short term for Huckabee but it will be required to be paid back 100 fold.

Dishonest? It’s called politics. The WV Republican Party has a right to run the caucuses the way they want to run them, without outside interference. Reagan would be all for that, and you know it. Reagan tried cutting deals to win the nomination in 76, does that make him dishonest too?
Look, I think Romney’s a nice and decent guy. I have nothing against him at all. I think he would be a very weak candidate however. He is proving that despite the money he is spending he’s not getting the necessary support and votes he needs to win.
